Niners have deal for DJax

Post#1 » by Sacramento_King » Sat Apr 28, 2007 4:09 am

ESPN is reporting that the Niners have a deal in place, acquiring DJax for a 4th rd pick. Nice pick up. Niners will have DJax, Lelie, Battle and V Davis as targets for Smith. Niners are looking at a big year hopefully in 07'.

This is a big steal. The 4th round pick that we are possibly sending would be the third pick in the 4th round (124th overall). This trade is like trading Barlow for DJax. I love it too.

Good news to hear! He is what we have needed and I dont think he will be getting to any trouble with his orange lamborghini. Alex Smith Frank Gore Vernon Davis Darrel Jackson not that bad of an offense, not at all...

Great trade if it happens, but it means no CJ.

Good deal. He's better than any WR we got.

Yeah I saw that a Yahoo article that they could be interested in him, and it's good to see it's probably going to happen. A great pickup and shoudl tremendously help the WR position. Easily becomes our best wide receiver.

Just under 1000 yards in catching in 13 games last season. He should flourish even more in our system, since he'll be more of a focal point. Great addition, can't wait till the season starts.

Anything new on if the physical has actually taken place yet and if he passed? I read he came to SF today but nothing since...

Ruskell: Seahawks' proposed trade of Jackson to 49ers ongoing
By GREGG BELL
AP SPORTS WRITER

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- The Seahawks' shopping of leading receiver Darrell Jackson continued well into Saturday night, but the San Francisco 49ers weren't buying. Yet.

"This is an ongoing situation. Nothing's happened. Tomorrow maybe, maybe not," Seattle general manager Tim Ruskell said Saturday evening, many hours after Jackson had arrived at 49ers headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif., from his home in Florida for a physical - which he passed.

The proposed trade would send Jackson to San Francisco in exchange for one of the 49ers' three choices in the fourth round of the NFL draft on Sunday.

Ruskell said the medical examination was necessary even during the discussion phase of the proposed trade because of Jackson's history of injuries. The seven-year Seahawk missed 10 games in 2005 following knee surgery, then developed a "turf toe" ligament injury last season.

Jackson was leading the NFL in touchdown receptions before he missed the final three games of the 2006 regular season. He did play in both of Seattle's playoff games.

San Francisco coach Mike Nolan spoke with Jackson and his wife Saturday while they were at the 49ers' facility. Yet Nolan cautioned San Francisco fans against getting too excited about the deal, noting the Seahawks hadn't agreed to any terms yet.

Nolan put the chances of a deal at "50-50, at best," late Saturday night.

"We're going to talk about it tonight, and Seattle has to come to grips with it, too," Nolan said. "He was real excited to be here, and it sounded like he was making plans to be here. But it's not up to him."

Several 49ers have prior experience with Jackson. Backup quarterback Trent Dilfer threw passes to Jackson while both were in Seattle, and personnel chief Scot McCloughan previously was a Seahawks executive.

Ruskell said the Seahawks' division rival's interest in Jackson did not intensify until immediately before the draft.

"It just kind of sprang up," Ruskell said.

Last week, Ruskell acknowledged the Seahawks began exploring a Jackson trade early in the offseason. But he said he expected Jackson to be at Seattle's first minicamp next week.

Jackson became expendable last September after the Seahawks traded their first-round choice to New England for Deion Branch. Seattle then gave the former Super Bowl MVP a $39 million, six-year contract - with $23 million guaranteed over the first three years - the kind of megacash deal Jackson has been wanting for years.

Jackson, who is under contract through the 2009 season, is due to make $3.25 million in base salary this season.
