Spanish La Liga Discussion thread: Congratulations Barcelona

Post#1 » by Slava » Sun Oct 5, 2008 3:10 am

Well.. just watched Barca's demolition of Athletico Madrid. 6 - 1 and tremendous football for like 28 minutes on a stretch. I figured it'd have been a tough game but Eto & Messi have been amazing so far for Barca alongside Xavi and Iniesta.

Yeah also thought we needed a li liga thread. :D

Madrid vs Espanyol was pretty entertaining and Raul's still showing the legs and reflexes of a great striker. Had they grabbed the chances that came their way, Madrid would have won the game fairly easily imo.

espanyol always gives real madrid a tough time.

the atlético-barca game was a fluke, it was terrible for a.madrid to get 6 goals!! they are better than that.

they must get it back together, they will face real next game.

and valencia so far is the surprise, they are playing very good, they look solid and strong, you couldn't think they were on the edge of relegation last year.

Barcelona is raping Almeria at the moment. 5-0 at the 41th minute.

Eto looks revitalized and looks like the shake up did them more good than harm. Messi is his usual threatening self on the pitch and Xavi is suddenly starting to develop an eye for goal.

Higuain finished pretty well in Madrid's last game and looks like his jitters infront of goal from last season are finally behind him but they really are a much different when Robben & Sneijder are fit and playing well.

That team is real scary now in the champions league. I haven't had much chance to watch them but how's their defense holding up and is it going to be an achilles heel for them somewhere in the future?

11 coaches in 10 seasons! Great going Madrid. I bet Ramos won't last more than 2 months on the job too. They had the coach they needed in Capello and firing him was on of their worst decisions ever, which is not saying much considering the senile idiots that run the club now-a-days.

Ramos is only there for remainder of the season, they should get another coach unless Ramos pulls a miracle

nothing beats letting Vincente del Bosque go. nobody controlled big galactico egos better than del Bosque.

it was pretty even game, real madrid had the chance to chance the course of the game (and the season?) but drenthe missed the goal, i wonder if robben would have been available what could have happened.

casillas was the hero for real madrid, and poor messi, they kicked him a lot in the first half, disappeared in most of the second and scored a magnificent goal!

I thought Henry was pretty good after a long time. He organized a couple of nice counter attacks, the second one leading to Messi's goal and I had a feeling right when Puyol stepped up for that corner that something was going to happen. A draw would have been unfair for Barca though and they deserved full credit for the win.

Casillas, I say again is the best GK in the world.
