Re: Who do you expect to start in the frontcourt?
I think Yi and Simmons definitely starting. We got them for RJ.
Not so sure with center position. Lopez is a legit center, but he's a rookie. Tough to start a rookie, but I really want to see Brooke ASAP.
Boone is like a younger Najera, and I still see Boone as 6th man. And we still have Sean. Don't know what he did to improve his game, confidence and focus in the off-season. He can play center too.
I'll be very happy if one of the bigs becomes a solid starter. At least as good as Krstic was when he was healthy. I'm not a knee-jerk guy, so I have patience to wait 2 or 3 years, but there will be signs if one if them is the good starting big I'm praying for
.
If that happens, we'll have a balanced, fun to watch team.

Boone has already shown signs of becoming quite good.
I don't know why everyone isn't higher on the guy.
And Najera is a terrible comparison, they are absolutely in no way alike.
Boone is a PF/C, Najera is a SF/PF.
Najera has range out to the 3, Boone has no jumpshot.

YESSIR IM BACK!! Time for another fun season
Its hard to predict starters outside of Carter, Harris, and Simmons. I assume Yi will start along with Josh. Depending on how fast they learn and can contribute, i can see Lopez becoming the starter by January, Anderson seeing increased PT due to him stretching the floor, and i already have confidence that CDR will back up Carter since he is aggressive on both ends of the floor. If Antione Wright can get PT, so should he.

Nobody told me we made another trade with Dallas.

Re: Who do you expect to start in the frontcourt?
if you start yi at PF you pretty much concede you will be getting less defensive and offensive rebounds, as this dude does not rebound whatsoever.
if yu were smart and if simmons is healthy (big if) you start.. Harris/Carter/Simmons/Williams/Boone... Williams and boone are athletic and defensivly savy enough to compensate for yis lack of defense and rebounding, and vince, devin and simmons get the majority of the shots...
if you start yi at pf you not onyl are leaving yourself vulnerbale on the defensive end for 30 mpg but your not getting rebounds.
sean fouls a lot, but thats mainly because he was a rookie..(im guessing)... yes, yi can score a little.. but his 100% ineptness on defense and rebounding will be nothing but a downside if you "start" him at PF.

Re: Who do you expect to start in the frontcourt?
I have to agree, I think Yi starts at the 4.
Boone at the 5.
The funniest thing is Ryan Anderson might be the best big we have.
I think there's an outside shot we see him starting at the 3 before the season is over.

Yeah, I could see that too. He does not have the speed whatsoever to keep up with SFs, but he's simply too talented to leave lying on the bench. If we haven't shortened our supply of PFs by the All-Star break, he will pick up time at the 3.
You can pick apart Yi as much as you want, health permitting, he will start. I also believe that Lopez will start, even though he is not ready for even 20mpg. Boone will average more mpg at C, but from off the bench, as may Sean in regard to Yi and PF minutes. Yi and Lopez, for better or worse, are the flagship of our rebuilding effort. They will start.

Re: Who do you expect to start in the frontcourt?
I do not agree that Lopez starts unless he looks incredible in camp.
Boone starts.
Lopez gets 20 something a game between the 4 and 5, with about 80% at the 5.

Simmons is the best option to start and is the highest paid, might as well get the most value out of him.
PF: Yi Jianlian. There are lot of different types of players who could start here, but I think Yi is the best bet. I think really brings a lot that this team needs.
C: Josh Boone. Made huge strides from his 1st to his 2nd season. Gives the team a very good rebounder. I think he'll continue to develop.
Najera and Sean Williams should be the 1st two options of the bench. Hayes for when the team needs offense and Anderson for when the team needs size. Swift and Hassell should hardly ever play. Ager should just be let go. Chris Douglas-Roberts and Brook Lopez should be brought along slowly, no reason to rush them.
Looking at all that, this team has too much depth.
pretty much how I see it... as far as starters...Najera might start if Simmons isnt ready (and I'm pulling for Bobby to be healthy)...and I dont think we'll really know this until we approach game 1...and even at that point the first handful of games will speak volumes on who is going to get the majority of minutes at SF...Jarvis is more than a capable backup, I can see him making a push at the top 8, he has the ability to start, its just who out performs who and who Frank gets comfortable with...I dunno about bringing CDR and Lopez along slowly, so to speak...if they're responding well early, you continue to give them minutes...obviously experience has the edge, but hopefully we see the rooks surprise us...
