Official Pre Season Thread. Game 1 Wednesday vs Boston

We play Boston tommorrow night and Iv heard NOTHING from you guys. I know its preseason but im **&@$&#@%^ stoked! This is the start of something special. I havent been this pumped for the season to start in a long time.

Side note:

Awards -

Who on our team to you think has the best chance to get an award this season?

I think both young and williams have a shot at MIP

I think we could get an all star nod this year.

Thad could potentially win MVP of rookie sophmore game

Sam could lead the league in BPG

I think Iggy could make all defensive 2nd team

Which do you think is most likely?

Back on topic. Seasons almost here, LETS GET STOKED!

I was hoping for some tv coverage of this game but it looks like we may not see Elton Brand on tv until opening night which is completely brutal. I am hype though and can't wait for the next couple of weeks to go by (injury free) so that we can begin what should be a fun and exciting season.

Man, why didn't they broadcast this game. I mean, this is gonna be the matchup in the East. Sixers VS Celtics. Well, if our depth is as good as Kate has been telling us, then we can possibly win this game. Pre-Season, yeah. But hey, a win's a win.

The 2nd and 3rd preseason games (on the 10th and 14th) are being broadcast locally in NYC (on MSG and MSG2.) I assume those will be available streamed on the web if you are crafty enough to find them.

As far as I can tell, none of the other preseason games will be broadcast anywhere.

Oh well, the season will be here soon enough.

Hey TGP, you gonna be making the regular season game threads again? I remember how much luck those brought us last season. Although...I was kinda shocked when you failed to have your beers and wear the Young jersey during the playoffs ahah... :lol:

Any ideas of using some new graphics for the thread, I heard you might be recruiting kanga to help you...

I threw it out there before and will throw it out there again... if someone else wants to take over on making game threads, I'm all for it. I did for the last two seasons and am willing to pass the torch to someone (tk... you up for it?). If no one else wants to... well then I'll drink a tall, cool glass of Kool-Aid and get back to work. :-)

And yes, kanga should make some sweet graphics for the game threads.

I did some fugly looking preseason and summer league game threads last year. I would not do credit to this forum (hangs head in shame...)

I would be happy to put up some kind of framework, and then have someone talented like Kanga spruce it up, but it probably makes more sense passing the torch to someone who knows how to make a game thread that is both informative and looks great.

It was posted on philaphan that the Celtics/Sixers game wil be on NBA TV. I can't find any listing of this on nba.com. Can anyone confirm?

To answer my own question...

tvguide.com says the game will be both on CSN New England and NBA TV.

Unfortunately I don't get either of these channels- but hopefully they will be streamed somewhere. I will update if I know if they will be streamed.

I'd be up for helping with the graphics. I'd need some ideas/direction, otherwise I'd probably end up putting Celtics heads on Sixers jerseys.

The best game threads have great base graphics. Someone must be putting in a lot of work to make some sort of template- after which its probably easy to plug in the rosters and any key info.

Are they different for every game? Or do we use the same base graphic everytime? Could you send me somewhere to see an example of a good one and maybe i can start working on them before the season starts...

I'll try and search for some. As I said, I think the base graphics tend to be similar each game with team logos and the player pictures inserted within a basic graphical template.

BTW, I am currently watching a live stream of the Utah/LA game, so I hope/expect the Sixers game to be streamed somewhere.

I just looked up game threads for Bulls, Lakers, and Celtics. Bulls and Lakers were pretty dry, but here's a thread for the Celtics. Is this somewhat what we want? Anyone have any better examples (I didn't look at any other teams).

Yeah I was actually going to mention the Celtics game threads, which looks pretty professional.

They do a really good job. So something along those lines should look great.

I was watching the stream as well. Bynum looked good, but I don't know what all the excitement over how big he got is for? He looks the same as last year, maybe slightly bigger. But all the talk that he's bigger than Dwight/Oden is ridiculous. I agree, he's definitely more toned. For a big man he moves quite well, he looks pretty lithe, which is great for the lakers offense, i.e. their running game...

Hahahah, the random scantily clad women, isn't as random as you think. Baron volunteered to do a short skit for Emmanuelle Chriqui (director/actress (is the random scantily clad woman), and he ended up playing some 70's super-funk roller skate disco dude, wearing uncomfortably small shorts, and dancing to some hilarious music. The video was fantastic, yet simultaneously shocking...

I'm sure I can come up with something simple yet elegant. More on the Celtics/Nuggets end of the spectrum, but I'll try to give it some unique Sixers flair.

Sounds great; another thing to look forward to this season- great game threads.

eyeatoma, you know your women... I saw those vids a while back, and they are unbelievable. I remember some site where Nash was posting them in some video rating competition.
