What about Delgado?

Post#1 » by squeekysneakers » Wed Oct 1, 2008 12:57 am

I realize this is a long shot as The mets are rumored to be picking up his option but he would be a great DH/!B for us. I'd rather him than Giambi and his nasty 'stache. What a wonderful story for the fans as well. Again, maybe a pipedream but I think he would fit well in our lineup, would want to come back here for sure and might be within a reasonable cost if he becomes a free agent.

If he can put up 30 and 100 for a few more seasons then I wouldn't mind having him as a DH. He doesn't have it with the glove so I wouldn't put him at 1B. I do believe that the Mets will re-sign him after the big numbers he put up down the stretch.

This offseason the Mets have many other holes such as closer and starters. So they will most likely go after K-Rod and CC with all their money. So if Delgado was available then I would jump on that in a heartbeat. He would bring our team together offensively and it helps having all your friends here. The only thing is that JP made it clear he did not want him back by not resigning him so if he were to sign him then it would make JP look bad. But wait, JP already looks bad so he mine as well try and save his job by bringing King Carlos back to T-Dot!!

would he be interested in coming back? i wonder how he still feels about the city & organization.. at his age, he'll be looking at a team who can win a ring NOW.. we are no where near that point

Meh.

Not really a fan of this "going back in time" crap Toronto teams have been pulling lately. But if the price is right I wouldn't really mind him back.

I would love to see Jays dangle someone like BJ for someone like David Wright.

That would never ever happen. Wright is a 30 HR 100 RBI machine who hits 20+ doubles a year and steals 8+ bases a year and has a .300 or better average. Why would they trade a potentail MVP level talent for a closer? Toronto would have to add more then just Ryan like Lind or Snider just even draw interest.

If that fantasy trade goes down we would look damn good

Lineup:

SS: Scutaro
RF: Rios
CF: Wells
3B: Wright
LF: Lind
DH: Rolen
1B: Overbay
2B: Hill
C: Brajas or Zaun

Just imagine the offensive numbers we would put up I mean damn your 2-6 would be damn good each could be 15-40 HR hitters with 60-120 RBI each.

Our bullpen would be good if we sign AJ Burnett

1) Doc Halladay
2) Burnett
3) Marcum
4) McGowan
5) Litsch/Purcey/Richmond

Setup: League
Closer: Carlson *interchangable with League*

I mean thats a World Series contender right there and if we get a good FA this year watch out
Fantasy I know but it's nice to dream right

I know. But Mets have a crappy bullpen, and I threw BJ and Wright out there as a possible principle.

Well that would be one hell of a steal if it happened. You would have to include Marcum, Lind, Snider or one of our young arms. I wonder if the Rios for Tim Lincecum deal is still on the table. I love Rios but Tim Lincecum would be a great 2nd option behind Roy and then we could always sign Manny :P

No doubt he will be a good addition for us.. but we need to put money towards getting Burnett back and maybe trying to pick and choose what to do with Snider and Lind.
