Is Wittman a fall guy?

Wittman faces scrutiny this time. The head coach's go-round in Cleveland way back when was not pleasant. Neither have been most of his 124 games as Minnesota's coach. But with the junk gone, management will be expecting progress -- vice president Kevin McHale has talked about a shot at .500, frighteningly unrealistic for this club in this conference at this time. But that could be used to make Wittman a fall guy, and buy the next coach (and the ticket sellers) an extra season of "development.''

Didn't you hear? Bob Knight says Randy Wittman = Mike Krzyzewski... He'll never be fired

Lee Majors is rolling over in his grave, being compared to Wittman.

What? He's not dead, but hiding out on bad Sci-Fi Channel movies? OK Farrah's rolling over in her grave. Not dead either?

It's been mentioned more than once on this board that Witt may indeed end up being some sort of fall-guy.

It's also been mentioned that, by any statistical or strategic measure, he's not a very good coach. McHale overestimating a Wolves' team's ceiling is nothing new... last time he did it it cost a pretty good coach (Casey) his job. Maybe this will be a make-up firing? The real question is who do you replace him with?
