I have 2K and it has a lot of little problems. The main one being the frame-rate issue with the 2K and drive cameras. Also 2Ks animations are plenty and usually takes over a good deal of the time leaving you feeling like you have no control and have to wait for the animation to finish. Those are the ones I have experienced. The Iso motion seems a lot more complicated than it was last year...so do the post moves. But maybe I need more practice on those.

The game though is pretty accurate basketball wise. Faces are a lot more realistic. Tracy McGrady for the first time in 2K history looks exactly like Tracy McGrady. Basketball wise the game plays well. Its better gameplay wise than last years game but a lot of little glitches hold it back.

I will say this..superstars...especially post players are absolutely unstoppable. Yao is unguardable....he makes everything. Which is good b/c I play as the Rockets..but guys like Elton Brand just dunk all over your team..6-8 coming off knee surgery Elton Brand...makes every shot. This game needed about 1 more month in development....they rushed it and it shows

Live from what I understand is even worst but I think it handles better control wise. Bottom line is both games are average....but Live is a little worst.

I was a live guy until last year, and the game was playing awful and the rosters weren't even close to current, so I switched. I wanted to wait for reviews for this year, but Game Informer is friggin late with them so I just went with 2k. The game plays alright, but I actually preferred last year's version. Something just isn't smooth about this game, like it's being played for me.
I tried live '09's demo, and it seemed to play pretty decent, but you can't tell everything from a demo. My gut is telling me the ratings will be as close as they've ever been, but I'm still waiting to find out. Any live owners care to shed some light?

What version do you have? He's in the PS3 version. Make sure that you update the rosters, then move him into the active list if you want to use him.

BTW, there ARE a lot of annoying little glitches in 2k this year, but apparently the devs are working on a patch.

Look what I found:

BTW, to fix that glitch all you have to do is delete the settings file and restart your system. The game creates a new one automatically.

The programmers are in the process of working on a better workaround as we speak.

2k9 is better because of the legends on the game. it is so fun taking all the legends and putting them on their teams that they played on. every team is stacked. for example the lakers starting lineup on my legends file is magic, kobe, elgin baylor, kareem, and shaq lol. The rox is alston, clyde, t-mac, hakeem, and yao. i was always a bulls fan too with MJ, and since scottie and rodman are on the game, i went ahead and made jordan, so the bulls are real fun.

I'm really curious to know who voted for Live and what their reasons were. Granted, this year's game is better than in the past, but there's no way it's better than 2K as a sim.

Someone please enlighten me.

2K is known for sim basketball
Live is known for arcade basketball
it just depend which type of style you like
i'm a Live fan (actually don't have much choice before 2000, Shootout is really bad)
2K is never good for me because the bug it had (like freeze during middle of the game)
the last basketball i bought is Live 05
i know most of those 2K glitches can be fixed but i don't know about those game freeze
the problem with today's technology (easy to upgrade via firmware update)
so lots of stuff are out that didn't really pass the quality assurance test (i know because i'm in one)
we told customers that our stuff have bugs and not passed the certification tests
they said don't worry about it they can update them later
the license company wont say anything because they are getting paid

Return to Houston Rockets
