To be honest, I just don't know if I'd value Craig Smith. I've never really seen him play, so I really couldn't evaluate him.

Then I though the pick is worth $3 mil, and didn't know if the hometown appeal of Carney would be worth the other $3. Cardinal's still a two year deal, on the right side of the 2010 Summer Free agency so, its probably not a big deal either way.

I was unaware you valued Baston like that. Would Craig Smith ($2.5 mil, $2.3 mil) be more appealing? He's quick enough to get ho shot off anyone, has a good attitude and throws his bulk around, but with his height he needs a defensive center behind him and you guys have much better options than the Wolves have.

I guess it could bridge the decision gap a little closer. It's funny though, this deal isn't a value problem, it's much more a situational thing. I mean we've had Baston here before and although he was a solid energy player, he was in a rough spot rotation wise. Yet worse case scenario, this time around he atleast is an expiring contract.

In relation to the 2010 free agency, i'm not really sure how interested we are in it. We'll need to solve contract issues ver soon ie. Granger, perhaps Rasho. So i'm not positive if we'd be helping or hindering our situation by adding Cardinal's extra year.

I could be wrong about this, i might side with caution and pass the deal up, it is however very fair value.

Although count55 will have to attest to the exact impact of adding Cardinal to the 2009-2010 Salary cap, my guess is that the Pacers wouldn't do any trade involving him simply due to the Financial and SalaryCap impact that he would have. Although I do feel that he would have value as an 2009-2010 Expiring Contract, from a Financial and Salary POV, I suspect that his $6.5 mil contract would likely impact our ability to resign Granger and ( assuming that we want to keep him ) Jack next season.

There isn't much guess work here.....we're not going to be involved in the 2010 FA market simply because Dunleavy and Murphy are still on the books then. Even if Tinsley is cleansed from the roster ( spiritually and Financially ) via some  Denver deal, we won't be far enough under the Salarycap to pursue anyone of significance. And before you say, "But we have about $13.5 mil in Expiring Contracts this season", remember......most of it is going to Foster, Granger and ( likely ) Jack next season.

If anything, look at the 2011-2012 FA Market to see who is available then.

Opened new thread for new season.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.
