How good is Tony Romo?

Post#1 » by randomhero423 » Mon Oct 13, 2008 12:35 am

I'm a Giants fan so consider me a bit biased. But watching him this year, it seems like he's lost that spark of energy he used to have. It seems TO is beginning to revolt against him. And from watching him, I can't say I trust him. He seems very erratic at times, and also overwhelmed. I know his stats look good, but I don't see a top flight quarterback when I watch him (last year I would say he is).

This year I would probably take these guys over him.
1. Peyton Manning
2. Jay Cutler
3. Drew Brees
4. Donovan Mcnabb
5. Phillip Rivers
6. Ben Roethlisberger

and maybe Eli Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, Jason Campbell

I am also biased against him, but I do think he's a bit overrated. He's obviously a good QB, but he has so much talent around him on the offensive line, at RB, WR, and TE. Any QB should be able to succeed with that kind of talent around him.

All I will say is, his stats are very misleading. Today he had 3td's for over 300 yards, but 3 fumbles I think and he laid a dud in overtime. Also, that last TD by Barber was all Barber, and poor relaxed defense.

But at the end of the year, they may have 10 wins and the media and fans won't remember what happened in this game, but the pretty stats will accumulate and send him to the Pro Bowl, which is fine with me as long as the Giants are at the big game at the end of the year. But first, we gotta focus on Cleveland on MNF!!!

All I know is that in the NFL playoffs Romo has f_cked up on the deciding play of the game in both his games. Take that for what it is worth.

He's good, nothing great IMO. He makes the o-line look a little better in pass protection that it really is, but he still has elite weapons all around him, I think he just tries to do too much sometimes.

Wow, Cutler over Brees... really?

The dude is on pace for 5300+ yards on 71% completion right now with Lance Moore, Devery Henderson, Billy Miller, and Mark Campbell as his primary receivers and TE's. Not counting Bush, the Broncos have 3-4 guys better than our best receiving target right now.

Drew Brees is easily the best QB so far this year, how is that even debatable?

Tony Romo is like an NFL version of Chris Webber. At times he looks like a HOFer, but then at the most important moment he makes the dumbest mistake.

Brees is more like TMac, can't ever get out of the first round.

Tony Romo has a strong arm and nice scrambling ability, but I have always thought he was a tiny bit overrated. He is so succesful due to the talent he has around him.

If Brad Johnson comes in and puts up average/decent numbers that should answer your question. I have said since that Thanksgiving Day game against Tampa that Romo is the luckiest guy in football. At least the luckiest QB.
