What do you expect from C.J. Miles this year?

Post#1 » by Komodo » Mon Oct 13, 2008 7:55 pm

I was watching the Jazz/Lakers preseason game a few days ago and Miles caught my eye. He's very athletic and looks to coming into his own. Your team is so athletic, he should fit right in with Williams feeding him easy baskets on the fast break this season. The reason I ask is because I chose him on one of my fantasy teams as a sleeper pick (last round, 20 team league), can't decide if I should drop him and add someone more proven.

How many minutes do you think he'll get this year? Points?

Thanks.

Its gonna take a Matt Harpring Injury to keep him in the rotation. Otherwise he is a spot starter with stats similar to last season.

The thing is, Harpring may not be back for a long time. If Miles can break out and earn the starting sg/sf spot like Brewer did last season, I would expect probably 8-10 ppg and probably 24-30 mpg.

I don't know what to expect from him.
He can be antoher brewer with better shot, or maybe he will continue to be the bust he has been those years.

Even if Harpring is out CJ has shown nothing to prove that he is a consistent player. Brewer never once last season had the flash of CJ against Miami in the 4th QT, but he was the model of consistency. Sure CJ probably does have the most talent or upside of any of our wings, but thats just it...he hasnt hit a plateau yet, he is still an upside guy.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if Sloan goes with Korver and Brewer or even his now famous 2 pg back court with Brewer at the 3. Then he brings AK off the bench. CJ is in the same position as Ronnie Brewer last yr and he isnt doing a very good job of trying to win minutes.

I expect wildly inconsistent play from him.

Some nights he will be on fire and score as many as 12 points in the first quarter, and then the next night he'll go something like 1-5 with 3 points.

He's still so young he hasn't figured out what his strenghts are yet and he wants to do too much at one time.

You might get a good game out of him here and then if blowouts, but, I don't think he deserves a roster spot even in 20 team leagues. I'd go for a guy who's best asset isn't points. Maybe a Goric or Ratliff, maybe even Evans is still out there?

Batum looked really good the other night, but, I don't think that'll translate into the regular season.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I think its still up in the air. CJ has looked very good and very bad, so if he forms any semblance of consistency he will probably steal some of harprings min.

I just expect him to do something. He is going to get playing time in the beginning of the year with Harp out, and it sounds like he may be starting. So just something. Anything.

I'm hopeful, but he hasn't shown jack yet, so I'd probably drop him for someone else.

Miles has started at SF when necesary and I didn't think he was a dissapointment at all. Let him be the starter.

Besides... Korver, Kirilenko, Knight and Fesenko seems to have showed glimpses of a really dangerous second unit... let them build from there for a while... just in case....

Could we actually have a 10 man rotation this year.

MIP, Defensive player of the year and of course MVP. If the Jazz actually start to bring AK off the bench miles could be a great option for us this year. But are we planning on playing paul at the center with the 2nd unit?

AK and Millsap are so versatile that they can switch on the 3/4 spot each time down the floor. The Portland game was a good example of that. The second line up the Jazz have is just so damn good.

Knight, Korver, AK, Millsap and Fesenko.

And then when you consider Boozer and Memo can split time at the back up C spot and that is a deadly line up.

If AK comes off the bench with Korver, Milsap, and Brevin are the Jazz going to put CJ and Brew on the court at the same time to start? I remember two years ago with Fisher in the line up we had a problem starting games fast. I can see that again this year, but are bench being the best in the league will win us games!
