ROSTER UP

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Mon Oct 13, 2008 3:43 am

What are we looking at at the seasons opener? Are the Lakers going to carry 14, 15? IR spot? I believe they have 18 ATM...

Fisher, Farmar, Yue
Bryant, Vujacic
Odom, Ariza, Walton
Gasol, Radmonovic
Bynum, Mihm, Powell

Karl, Crawford, Heath, Giles, Mbenga

BTW I noticed one thing about tonights game, my first this season, the LAL look very fit. Radmonovic I don't even recognize. He's hustling, he's trim, he has a clean haircut, and he looks ready to ball.

I'd add Mbenga and Giles to the current roster and it'd have to be a toss up between Karl, who hasn't shown any sign of being with the team for a season so far and Crawford.

I think they will take two of these 4... Karl, Crawford, Mbenga, Giles. I think it's going to be 1 G, 1 F/C eventhough Karl and Crawford might be the best 2 of the 4.

I don't agree with Karl and Crawford being the best 2 of the 4. Giles look pretty fluid and athletic to me and if I'd want to put someone on the IR for the season, I'd rather have him for the potential. DJ is good cover up for any injuries during the season.

I want Giles and Mbenga but I feel like they should sign guard insurance, too. Anybody sold on Mihm being competitive this season? I'm not sure if he's still fools gold or if it's just pre-season.

Mbenga was at least active, and he's tough. If it came down between Mbenga and Giles...I'm not sure who I'd pick. Yes, Giles has more potential, but I think DJ fills a toughness need. However, if Phil isn't going to play him, then keep the kid.

I think the primary big man rotation is going to be Bynum/Powell/Gasol/Odom so I wouldn't really worry about Mihm's impact but dude does look pretty solid so far.

Giles looks nice. DJ would be a good fit. Not sure all those guards are needed. Dump Karl.

At this point, I'd take Mbenga and Giles, and trade Luke for a backup veteran PG, which is something we really do need. If that PG backup turns out to be Crawford or Karl and we have to choose between Mbenga and Giles, I'm not sure who I'd pick. Mbenga is tougher, Giles is smoother and more fluid. Since we have depth up front, I think I'd have to go with the better talent — Giles. I love the saying "silent-M-time", though, so it's a tough choice.
