Your thoughts please

Post#1 » by DeShaunRed » Sun Oct 12, 2008 5:39 pm

Hi guys. This is actually my first time in playing fantasy basketball. I did a bit of homework (fantasy articles and stats) in the intention of picking the players on draft date.

10-Team H2H

Chris Paul
Jamal Crawford
Andre Iguodala
Andris Biedrins
Dwight Howard
Jose Calderon
Joe Johnson
Peja Stojakovic
Al Jefferson
Tyson Chandler

UTIL - Chris Duhon
UTIL- David Lee
BN - Andre Miller

Strong: Assists;3 ptm;Steals;Blocks;Rebounds;Points
Moderate:FG%
Weak: FT%;Turnovers

Overall I'd suggest only one move: Trading Jamal Crawford(whose fg% is a big negative ) for someone with a good fg% who can also hit three's(Jason Terry or Barbosa) that why you can move your fg% from neutral to strong while not losing a lot of ground in 3 ptm and steals. You can afford to lose Crawford's apg to increase your fg%

Well, first of all I have to congratulate you... For your first time you did an AMAZING job.

And I aggree with Nostra on everything... if you can somehow swing such a trade, you will be golden. With Paul, Calderon, Miller, Johnson and Duhon you don't realy need Crawford's assists.

Good luck and most of all enjoy the experience

Wow. Thanks a lot guys. I really appreciate your opinions here.

Now that you mentioned it, I'm gonna keep my eye on Jason Terry or Leandro Barbosa, whoever is available. I scoured some stat records somewhere and found out their FG%, which is pretty good.

Al:
Thanks. I am definitely excited for my first ever fantasy experience. :D

And Duhon looks weak, I think there should be better free agents available than him judging by the rest of your team

I donno, I dont believe in Duhon personally with Marbury and Nate still with the knicks..

First of all, I did not say anything about trading Crawford for either Barbosa or Terry. It's basically getting somebody else's opinion about the whole line up. It basically boils down to getting the guy available, or get the other when the player I want is not available anymore.

Thanks a lot for your opinion, by the way. :)

At first, I did picked Jamal Crawford because of Mike D'Antoni running the Knicks. Crawford is suited better as the Knicks' premiere perimeter shooter now, IMO. That's why he's included in my list.

As for Duhon, he was able to understand D'Antoni's system though not ultimately or convincingly yet since they've played 2 or 3 games so far and were only preseason match ups. I picked Duhon because I think he'll be the Knicks' starting PG. And I think Nate is great off the bench while Marbury is not even worth mentioning as of today.

Duhon is a sleeper for me.

But then again, I just want to have fun. :)

Thanks again.

Pretty nice team. You've got nice fg%, nice assists with Paul, Calderon, nice rebounding with Howard, Chandler, Jefferson and Biedrins, nice shooters with Peja and Joe Johnson and Peja led the league in FT%.

That's a stacked team.

You have 2 top 5 PG's in Paul and Calderon and Andre Miller backing them up
2 top C's in Howard/Biedrins with Chandler backing them up
2 top SG's in Joe Johnson/Iguodola with Crawford as your 3rd SG

Then the top 3pt shooter Peja, David Lee, Chris Duhon, and for good measure Al Jefferson.

You should outright win the FG%, assist, stls, 3's, blks, reb's cat's every week

Having Howard, Biedrins in a head to head won't kill you every week in the FT cat.

Unbelievable team........
I'm so tired of the typical......

What was your draft order? I kind of don't believe you it's that good.

1.C-paul
2.Al Jeff
3.Dwight
4.Iguodala
5.Joe Johnson
6.Chandler
7.Calderon
8.Miller
9. Biedrins
10. Lee

Yeah right? Someone must of made a team with scrubs or something.

HighOctane:

That's why I put first the phrase "...in the intention of picking the players on draft date" at the top for it to be recognized as my "fantasy" line up in a fantasy league. The other people I'm gonna played with are inexperienced also so I'm just preparing my own line up in case they indeed are thinking about putting a team made with scrubs or something.

And there's also money on the table. Honestly, I can't believe these guys.

Well that phrase went right past me too. So you put up your "dream" lineup of players you hope to pick? That's why the Fantasy board doesn't get a lot play.......

Oh thanks, my initial apprehension was then far off. I'm pretty sure other people who replied were thinking the same thing.

That lineup that you have there is far too stacked for a 10 person league. If you can get Chris Paul, Al Jefferson in the 1st round you're fine. But yeah try for the Biedrins and Lees since they are the sleeper rebounders that most rooks never find.

Man. I knew it was too good to be true. When people started replying like it's one of the most stat-rich line up, I started to wonder how does the draft work.

I heard it's like if I pick first in the second round I get to pick the last next. Anyhow, I won't bother you guys about that anymore. But thanks a lot for your opinions. I really appreciate it.

Good luck to my first ever fantasy game!

okay that seems like a real drafted team. blocks are going to take a hit. besides that, very good team--despite the team that was first noted in this thread.
