I think part of the willingness in giving up so much for Williams is that the Cowboys received two draft picks back as part of the pacman Jones trade. By being suspeded, the Cowboys got their picks back they gave up to acquire him. So like any rich kid who was just given a tax refund, jerry jones spent those picks as soon as he got them.

Wow, what a horrendous deal by the Cowgirls. I can't think of any WR I'd even consider giving up that much for; maybe Randy Moss circa 2000, but that's about it. Meanwhile, the Lions actually did something right? They should save all the newspaper clippings about this deal and frame them as proof.

this reminds me of when dallas traded two picks for joey galloway. didnt work for him then and i dont think it will now. this seems like a move that someone who doesnt really know about football would make, getting a flashy skill player over a solid db or lineman. haha. god i hate the cowboys.

In theory the move can be justified. The odds are Dallas will be picking late in the first round and wouldn't get a better player than Williams at that point in the draft. Throwing in the extra third rounder is somewhat pricey, but they have an extra third round choice.

Where that theory breaks down IMO is that giving up a 1st/3rd just for the right to also give Roy Williams a huge contract that pays him No.1 receiver money is to much overall because he's not an elite receiver. If say the trade was for Greg Jennings, i think it was be a costly, but good move. Williams also seems to have some attitude issues, some prima donna and thinking he's better than he really is.

If Williams can go to Dallas and produce much better after getting out from that spirit crushing and dismal situation in Detroit, then maybe Dallas won't look back and regret this move. I'd bet against it though.

I think Williams can be a dominate receiver on the team like the Cowboys. He has never been on an offense such as this and will be one of many weapons opposed to one of the only weapons.

I'm just curious to see what happens if TO starts getting looked over and Williams starts getting all of the balls. I don't see that working out very well.

I think this is the second best thing to happen to Detroit in the past decade other then the firing of Millen of course. They lost their starting QB for the year and were already one of the leagues worst teams before that happened. Williams will be missed but he wont be for long if the Lions can build a winner. Not saying this moves does that but it does show that they have moved in a possitive direction and are sick of being the "Sorry Ass Lions"
