Thomas is a versatile player who can play all three linebacker positions and is also a solid special teams contributor. The Vikings worked Thomas out two weeks ago in light of E.J. Henderson’s injury and then decided to sign him this week, with the injuries to David Herron likely playing a part in the decision.

“This is a great opportunity,” Thomas said as he spoke to reporters today in the locker room. “I’m looking forward to it and I want to help this team in any way possible, especially on special teams.”

good move, since LB injuries have been far to frequent this season

I don't know but it's hard to get excited over signing a guy who was cut during the preseason. It sounds like the Vikings are looking at signing Napolean Harris also.

they signed nap too.

the positive: both already played with us, know people on the squad, know the system and can fill right in...nap even started at MLB for us the season before last

the negative: both were cut by their respective teams. so something might be fishy. this is also a trend i see with ex-vikings players: almost none will make an impact for another team (safe randy moss, of course).

Neither guy can be a cover-2 guy. We either need to change a key aspect of our defense or die. Cover-2 needs no kinks in the armor. But the MLB is that kink if they cannot cover deep.
