If the Utah Jazz end up the 4th seed again, who do you want
If you end up with the 4th seed again this year and With the West being tight again this year, which team would you more than likely want to play in Round 1?
You have the Lakers, Rockets, Hornets, Spurs, Mavericks or Suns who all seem like they can finish 5th in the conference.
Hollinger is predicting you guys finish 1st out west, which very well can happen, but so could any of those teams as well.
The 4th seed seems like the worst spot you guys would finish though and so this is the reason I mention that seed.
Now with that in mind, there are plenty of teams that could play you in round 1. Which team would you have the best chance against or who you would rather play?
For instance,
Houston (You have beaten them the last 2 years in Round 1. One year without Yao and one year with Yao. They have added another piece to the team now, 3 years in row beating them would be tough)
Lakers (They won last year against you guys in Round 2, Boozer didn't play too well and now they add another big man to the team)
Spurs (They beat you in 2006-2007 in the conference finals. Maybe you would want to repay them)
Mavericks (A team who has lost 2 years in a row in the 1st round, but now brings in a defensive minded and good coach in Carlisle. Could be dangerous for anyone)
Suns (Lost to their poision in the playoffs the Spurs. Added a defensive coach in Porter this year to change their luck)
Hornets (Wow!!, Deron vs CP3. Two teams virtually equal in every facet)
So all in all, who would you rather play as the 5th seed in the playoffs if you end up being the 4th seed again?

Rockets for a couple of reasons. I love playing them, it's always physical and close games and I'd rather see them in the first round than the second. If they make it past the first round they get a lot of momentum and Tmac gets a lot of motivation.

I'd put them in this order:
Hornets (I think they're one hell of a team, but the Jazz seem to have their number).
Suns and Mavs (Still great teams, but not as great as they once were).
Rockets (they were already pretty good and now they have Artest. Right now they look scary, but they might be number one on my list if the Artest experiment goes wrong).
Lakers (it was a hard fought series last year and IMO, Bynum won't make that much of a difference. He's a pretty good player, but I think chemistry will be an issue).
Spurs (they own us.)

Hornets would be a sweep. I think it would be a good way to start the playoffs.

Hornets
Suns
Mavs
Rockets
Spurs
Lakers
And the only one I think we'd struggle with is the Lakers.

Hornets. I kinda feel bad for Chris Paul when he plays against Deron.

Yeah, I've been waiting for that Hornets match up since they got into the league, I pray that this year is the year.

Probably the Hornets, though we definitely wouldn't just roll over them. It would be a well-fought series. After that, I'm not sure. It would be nice to beat the Rockets again; the Suns are setting; the Mavericks pre-Jason Kidd = McCain 2000 -- the Mavericks post-Jason Kidd = McCain 2008.
I definitely don't want to see the Lakers or Spurs.

I would say Hornets #1. The world needs as many Deron/CP matchups as possible.
Second would be the Spurs. They have been our daddies for years and year now, but I feel like we're ready to turn the tables on them.
Third is the Rockets. Nothing like owning a team on an annual basis.
I would take the Lakers 4th, but I want them in the WCF.

especially when they think they are a better team and they come up with awesome excuses after the series. this would be my pick...then a close second would be the hornets.
Cp3 vs Dwill would be unbelievable but i have a feeling that we would be avoiding them every year unless we meet in the conference finals.

Yeah, for some reason I just don't see the Jazz matching up with these guys in the first round ever.
How about this for a season ending standings...
Jazz
Lakers
Hornets
Spurs
Rockets
Suns
Mavs
Blazers
Then we have the Jazz beat the Blazers, the Lakers beat the Mavs, the Hornets beat the Suns, and the Spurs beat the Rockets (another first round loss lol).
Then the Jazz beat the Spurs finally, and the Hornets upset the Lakers.
Then the Jazz beat the Hornets.
Then the Jazz win the chip.

Give me the Mavs in round 1. Kidd is done and Dirk is a soft choker. Why make it any harder than it needs to be? The Rockets WILL win a playoff series this year. Adelman is too damn fine a coach not to. And with serious talent and health (I'm sure they all have their fingers crossed), they could go very far.
I'll take the Hornets in the WCF. Then the world can see why you cant discount head-to-head matchups when deciding who the best PG in the league is (its Deron).

As much as I roll my eyes at the Rockets, I really do hope we don't see another injury to Yao. Dude seems like a first-class guy, and it's sad to see his career falling apart because of his altruistic commitment to playing for his home country, when someone of his body type really needs the rest over the summer.

Yeah, Yao Ming is the bright light for Houston that just can't stay on.
I'm sorry to say it but humans that size just aren't ment to run and jump around on a hardwood floor from the time they are 20 until their mid 30's.
a 7'6, 300+ pounds, it just doesn't work out. There is a reason he keeps getting hurt, they aren't fluke occurances, they are his body simply not being able to take that kind of abuse.
Here are the averages games played per season for their career for NBA players 7'5 and above.
Manute Bol: 69 games.
Gheorghe Muresan: 51 games.
Shawn Bradley: 69 Games
Chuck Nevitt: 17 games.
Ralph Sampson: 50 Games
Yao Ming: 67 games.
And the sad thing about Yao is that over the past 3 seasons he hasn't played more then 57 games which is a bad sign. In addition, hadly any of those other guys played as many minutes per game as Yao does which is just another bad sign for his future.

The spurs baby! lol, we haven't beat them in SA in over a DECADE, we are due. Seriously, Jazz+spurs=Jazz playoff exit. I say we play whichever team is most injury depleted.

Very true.
Man, what a player Ralph Sampson could've been. Poor bastard.
