Jake Peavy

Post#1 » by greenbeans » Sat Oct 18, 2008 6:21 pm

Any thoughts as to where he goes?
I kinda agreed with the Yankees not giving up the farm for Santana, but Peavy is the type of guy they should do that for imo. Of course the usual suspects will be in on em(Bucholz, Bowden and Lowrie goin west?) but any under the radar teams trying? The fact he only wants to go to Atlanta, St. Louis, the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers or Houston Astros is kinda weird to me but I'd imagine he's just a laid back guy.

here is what i think it would take from the following teams to get Peavy: [keep in mind im just doing prospects] and peavy has a very friendly contract

Boston: Lowrie, Masterson, Mr. LapTop Stealer Bucholz
NYY: Ian Kennedy, Melky Cabrera, Austin Jackson, Jeffery Marquez
ATL: Jordan Schafer, Cole Rohrbough, Jair Jurrjens,
STL: Colby Rasmus, Mark McCormick, Jaime Garcia, Matt Pagnozzi
CHI: Sean Gallagher, Josh Vitters, Jose Ceda, Jeff Samardzija
LAD: Clayton Kershaw, Scott Elbert, Andy LaRoche, and one more [kemp... remember they are in divison foes so theyd want the farm]
Houston: well i dont think they have anyone of value since they traded them mostly to baltimore for tejada... i just dont see many prospects with the value

I can assure you the Braves laugh at any proposals the Padres make that involve Jurrjens. Jurrjens is really good, really young, really cheap, and the only Braves starting pitcher whose any good. The Braves are better off with Jurrjens, prospects, and the money to spend rather than Peavy especially considering the huge holes they have to fill for $30 million (my calculations) or so.

I think the Yankees would probably prefer to take their chances on signing Sabathia outright than dealing all those prospects for Peavy.

I'm not sure I want the Cubs making an offer. Our rotation is already pretty good and I'm not ready for Josh Vitters to leave my life.

There is no way I'd give up Masterson in a deal for Peavy. In fact I don't want Peavy at all in Boston.

LMFAO. Bill Bavasi is not the GM of the Padres, you know.

LaRoche is with Pittsburgh now. Perhaps you heard of a little thing called "the Manny trade"?

Gallagher's not with the Cubs anymore either.

Atlanta won't give up Jurrjens after stealing him from Detroit. I doubt the Dodgers part with Kershaw either, but stranger things have happened.

I could see the Angels maybe being a match. I don't think you'll hear too much from the Padres pushing a trade tho.

Now that CCs out of the picture for the Brewers, I could see them matching up well in a potential deal.

Marquis is about to be traded to the Rockies and the trade talks with Chicago are now heating up again

I took a flyer on him as my #6 in a pitching heavy league. I'm hoping for a couple strong starts, then i'll deal him at big time value.
