Deron goes down, oh crap

Post#1 » by idajazz » Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:01 am

Williams rolled his ankle on a jump shot, he had to be carried off the floor, and then a wheel chair to the locker room.

It looked friggin bad on the replays :(

I wouldn't be shocked if he broke it.

This is from the game recap:

Williams left the game after falling awkwardly and spraining his left ankle. Williams had X-rays, which were negative, but he didn't return to the game.

Williams left the arena on crutches and wearing a protective boot. He refused to talk to reporters after the game.

Utah coach Jerry Sloan would not comment on Williams' condition.

"That's not my position to speak on his condition," Sloan said. "I would never try to get a player back sooner than he should be ready to play. I would never jeopardize somebody's career."

I was reading about inversion sprains and generally they it could take anywhere form 10 to 30+ days to heel in the worst case.

Lets hope for 10, but having him not talk to the media is a bad sign.

Crap.

That was a dumbass rookie mistake by Rose, sliding under a jumpshooter who is attempting a step back 3 pointer. This is something that never should have happened. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't intentional, but it sure **** me off when I saw it. If I had been in the arena, I probably would have charged the court. Its a very vulnerable feeling to see your season (and your franchise) writhing on the court in excruciating pain in a freakin preseason game because some dumb rook got a little carried away. Bitch.

Yeah, I don't think he meant to do it. But I still think Deron is going to take offense to it and pwn his dumb ass every chance he gets. I know sort of feel bad for the kid.

This is why you need 3 pgs. I am much more confident we can weather this storm with Knight than with Hart.

(of course you know if Williams can't go, Knight is the starter, how do I know this? Sloan always promotes the 3rd string to starter when a starter goes down.)
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

****. Well, this is why we went out and got knight, he is a veteran and a great floor leader. I have watched him quite a bit and he is just steady, doesn't do anything spectacular, but doesn't turn the ball over. He gets the ball where it needs to be, hopefully DW is back before the season starts though.

If deron is out for an extended period of time Knight should do just fine. Although I question if ak coming off the bench when knight is in is the right thing to do. Well get some of the playmaking with knight but almost no scoring from him. so we shall see, hope deron can make the opener.

Ross Siler is speculating that Deron may be out a month. Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant were both out a month with severe ankle sprains. He also said that Kobe came back at about 70%. Deron refused to talk to the media after the game. I think this means that he is really upset about his ankle. LIke I said before:

May God have mercy on us all.

I hope Deron does not feel any pressure/obligation to start the season if he is not 100% certain he can play pain-free. The last thing I would want is a long-term, career-threatening re-injury like Grant Hill suffered.

Get healthy DWill!!!!!
