Bulls / Hawks / Wolves

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Sun Oct 19, 2008 9:39 am

ATL gets: Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer, Jason Collins
ATL gives: Mike Bibby

CHI gets: Mike Bibby, MIN pick
CHI gives: Joakim Noah, Kirk Hinrich

MIN gets: Kirk Hinrich
MIN gives: Brewer, Jason Collins, pick
(MIN has three first round draft picks in 2009)

ATL gets a backup center in Noah that will allow Horford to play some spot minutes at PF, and Hawks get Brewer, a guy who can fill Childress' spot

CHI gets a big expirering contract and draft pick. and with Rose, the Bulls get to get ride of a big contract that plays the same position as Rose and the pick helps the Bulls rebuild

MIN gets a big PG, who would be a perfect teammate for Foye

It comes down to 2 things. If the pick is actually Minnesota's pick then obviously there's no way they are going to do it since that pick is likely going to be top 5...if the pick is Philly's or Boston's pick...then obviously Chicago isn't going to give away Noah for a late 1st round pick(which have very little value).

Why would Minnesota do that?

MIN is not going to give up their pick, but alot of Wolves fans are concerned that they will have 5 rookies next year, and some of their fans are looking to traded a pick or two. trading a mid to low first round pick and Brewer for a quality starting PG seems fair.

worth.... of course not, nobody has a lower opinion of Bibby than me, but i do think Bibby's contract is worth more than his talent.

his contract is not worth as much as u think. It's disered but u won't get 2-3 quality players for him. We'd be lucky to get 1 guy that can be in the consistent rotation.

What are we going to be? JJ, Smooth, and the Gator boys. Just so you know, Marvin>Brewer right now, it does add depth to our SF position, but doesn't make it have a new starter, only taking mins away from Marvin's development. Also I would think if Noah is here, he wouldn't see the light of day on the court. Woodson would have him as our next Shell-Will. It does look good on paper, but I would rather have Bibby here one more year, to let Law devleop under him, and Bibby is who we want Law to become anyways (the Bibby of old), Shooting clutch shots and all.

The Hawks won't trade M. Bibby unless we're not even close to making the playoffs. If this team is playing well, with some consistency and fighting for the 6th seed up, there's no way he's traded. If we struggle, barely fighting for the 8th seed, then I can see him gone. Anyway, I find it very hard to believe that A. Law has improved so dramatically after what we saw last season. While I like Flip Murray, he's not a true PG, and no fans know better than us how that would turn out if he played PG full time. If M. Bibby is traded, you have to get a PG back, and to get a quality starting PG in this league is probably one the most diffcult things to achieve in the NBA.

there's pretty much no way bibby gets traded anytime soon. and he certainly would't get traded for that package. you'd have to look at our depth chart after that trade

law/speedy*
johnson/murray
williams/evans/brewer
smith/noah/
horford/pachulia/collins

*-hurt

we'd be trading bibby for two third string guys and noah who would become the fourth big man which is another way of saying you're playing less than 20 min a game. that's a bad trade for the hawks.

the hawks couldn't get either Noah or Brewer for Bibby- its hilarious that anyone would think the Hawks wouldn't to the trade where they got both of them. You get so much extra value like this you do the trade and worry about a folllow up trade to balance the roster more.
