B-Diddy sprains ring finger! Out for one week

Post#1 » by DerickG » Sat Oct 18, 2008 7:56 am

Baron Davis will miss both of the Clippers' preseason games this weekend after spraining the ring finger on his left hand at practice on Friday, the L.A. Times are reporting.

X-rays revealed no break, but an MRI exam was inconclusive and Davis will be reevaluated Monday.

Thankfully if it takes him out of a few games Mike Taylor looks like he can handle the load in the pre-season before Baron gets back. Go Clippers!

It's not broken and it is his non-shooting hand. Those are good things. He will need to have it re-evaluated on Monday, so hopefully it will show that it is something minor.

I am concerned in that I would like our star player to be healthy, but I'm not worried. It's preseason, so if he misses a few games, I'm not going to stress over that. He's in good shape, and it's all good as long as he's healthy when the season starts. I would like to see Camby play next to Kaman soon, just to get an idea of how that duo will look. Hopefully we'll have a full roster (that's includes Timmy) for at least 2 preseason games.

I think most of our players will be ready for opening night. This is pre season and most of the vets can get by with out it. Sorry that you won't get to see Baron RapZilla

What time does the game start? Where are they playing? Baron played our first pre season game just to go up against the Lakers and set the tone.

Thank god it's not on his shooting hand, otherwise it could have really affected his shot selection.

He's going to be re-evaluated on Monday, but Dunleavy expects him to be ready for the season opener.

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Baron Davis will visit a specialist Monday to examine his injured left ring finger. One possible recommendation could be surgery that would sideline Davis for four to six weeks, an NBA source said.

Davis injured the finger in practice Friday. The initial diagnosis was a sprained ligament; X-rays revealed there was not a broken bone. However, there is a possibility that there could be a ruptured tendon in the finger, which would require surgical repair. If surgery is not necessary, it still could take up to three weeks for Davis to recuperate and return to action.

"It doesn't feel good," Davis said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "It's not comfortable, not a comfortable feeling. ... The good thing is that it is the preseason, so you can deal with all your bumps and bruises early."

The Clippers open the regular season on Oct. 29 against the Lakers. A three-week absence would keep Davis out of action for the first six games.

The Clippers play 14 games in the month of November.

Hopefully he won't require surgery. We'll just have to find out tomorrow though.

Surgery would definitely suck...I don't understand how surgery would be required if there are no breaks, but...that's why I'm not a doctor. But...three weeks w/o surgery to recover? Seriously? How hard is it to recover from a finger injury?! On a non-shooting hand? Again...this is why I'm not a doctor.

But I ain't no pansy either and there's no excuse for Baron missing 3 weeks to heal a finger!

Damn this injury curse we got goin on....

An NBA source told The Boston Globe on Sunday night that the Clippers are fearful that newcomer star guard Baron Davis could miss as many as 4-6 weeks due to a sprained ring finger on his left hand that could require surgery. The two-time All-Star is expected to learn how long he will be out and whether he needs surgery during a doctor evaluation on Monday. Davis sprained the ring finger on his left hand at practice last Friday.

This really sucks, BD's injury is a real set back. But to all of us fans injuries to our best players isn't anything new but I was really looking forward to see Baron during the regular season.

It's not so much that the Clippers are cursed. Baron is just prone to the little nagging injuries. Out a few days here...Out a couple of weeks there. He's got a lot of pride though and he'll play through injuries as much as he can.
