ESPN all breakout team

Group I: You already knew, but …

Deron Williams, Jazz
Does anyone else find it a little weird that he hasn't made an All-Star team yet? Although he's had a bit of a setback thanks to Saturday night's ankle sprain, that oversight should be corrected this year -- especially if the Jazz are as good as I think they'll be. Williams has a good chance of passing Steve Nash and Chauncey Billups in the point guard hierarchy given his steady improvement; even last year, his numbers were much stronger after the break than before, including 12.0 assists per game in the second half. And while Carlos Boozer busies himself with the vagaries of the South Florida real estate market, Williams will spend a full year as Utah's unquestioned go-to guy.

Group IV: Stealth All-Star candidates

Ronnie Brewer, Jazz
If I had to vote one guy as the league's most underrated player, it's him. A productive two-way player for one of the league's best teams, the third-year pro reportedly has shot the ball far better this preseason -- and that was his one weakness. Even if he doesn't improve a lick from outside, his knack for scoring around the basket and improving defensive skills make him one of the best players at his position, and he's still getting better at only 23. With his playing time likely to increase along with his prominence on a key Western contender, he may not stay underrated for long.

Its amazing to me how much love he's been giving our team.

I don't know what his basis is for these predictions, because he has both Ronnie and Deron notching a slightly lower PER this year than last. Maybe this is an entirely subjective column.

Anyhow, I think Ronnie is going to become much better known this year. If the Jazz emerge as a legit powerhouse, as I believe they will, he is going to be a big reason why, and I think he'll get the recognition that comes along with it.

If he can rebound every night the way he was doing vs. Chicago the other night....wow. The dude could post 5-6 rpg for the season. That would be something.

I wasn't Brewers biggest fan when the Jazz drafted him but since then and lately he has blew my freaking mind. He is becoming one of my favorites.

As stealth All-Star, Ill take it!

Ronnie Brewer for MIP!

This is why Ive never been a Hollinger hater. All his predictions, per, power rankings...its all formula based. Sure he has a strong opinion of CP3 vs. Deron, but the guy isnt a Jazz hater. This is however, a opinion column IMO.

I was pretty excited when we drafted Ronnie Brewer...then on opening night against the Rockets during his rookie year I knew he was gonna be special when I saw this:

That first alley-oop was incredible he was nearly behind the backboard when he threw it down.
