Preseason 09 - Bynum may get a max ofer from another team?

Post#1 » by klemen4 » Tue Oct 21, 2008 1:51 pm

Im sure Bynum wont sign extension till 31. October. It is hard to reach a deal based on his injury and before a crucial season.

What will happen in 09?
Bynum will be restricted free agent and sure for 22 years old center (probably the biggest prospect C in NBA) there will be big interest. I personally as a team manager would max probably only a real C or PG prospect. And if we suppose he has a great season, that he will be only 22 years old you can put him on side of Staudamire and Howard. He can get a max offer!!

Teams with salary cap space around 20 mio in 09:
Memphis
Oklahoma
Atlanta

All teams are without real center, I doubt Memphis offers that kind of money, Oklahoma could, Atlanta would be great with Bynum and Horford.

Who knows what happens but from a general manager point of view it is the best bet to gamble on C like Bynum and give a max deal.

If someone gives a max deal, would LAL match...probably not????

Portland could also have more than 20 million off the books if Miles doesn't play 10 games (though it wouldn't make sense with Oden already on the blazers), but yeah, there might be a few teams willing to overpay for him, but I say it'd be better for Mitch to let him play out a season before he guarantees him 85 MILLION over 5 more years. Believe me, this isn't anything personal against Bynum, with him being a RESTRICTED FREE AGENT, it'd be better for the Lakers to stand pat for now to avoid paying a NEAR MAX CONTRACT unless they can get him for cheaper since you never know how a player will recover from a major injury over the course of a season.

if the lakers aren't going to sign him right away, what makes you think everyone else is going to come running contract in hand?

Bulls fan here, but if Grizz offered Josh Smith that money. I'm sure they'll offer Bynum the money he looking for

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

If Iguodala and Deng can get deal in 70 mio range, Bynum deserves at least the same money, but I agree Lakers should wait...But can they afford that kind of deal? I doubt...
