Josh smith does that and he is a liability on the court- Jefferson does that and you would be hard pressed to even know it. So what would happen if instead the worry was that when you signed a new contract it was the opposite- that players wouldn't try as hard on offense and on Defense they would go for more blocks to pad their stats instead of sticking to high percentage defense. Then Jefferson would be the big worry and you would be hard pressed to know if Josh smith was doing it or not.

Well the Jefferson thing was just sort of a non-sequiter but the Wolves better damn hope the puts more effort into the thing he is bad at, even if it is just to pad his stats - unlike Smith's offense, Jefferson's defense, if it doesn't improve, will keep the Wolves from being a 30 win team unless a Pryzbilla type player is installed next to him.

Anyway, Smith makes stupid decisions but I think he's a guy that has always put pride into his offense. His problem this preseason hasn't been the dumb offensive plays either, which is a good sign. I don't recall him blocking a lot of shots or pulling down a ton of boards last preseason either but for the season he was an above average defensive rebounder at his position.

That being said, I don't mind Woody trying to establish his authority early or pump the team up.

Just to discuss the Wolves, I think they will be better than people think. When they have Foye, Miller, and McCants on the floor they have three guys that are deadly from outside the arc. Combine that with the low post offense of Jefferson and that is a dangerous team.

I think this was a smart move by Woodson. The 1st two plays of the game he beat everyone else down for an alley oop and then he pinned Affalo's layup against the backboard. He also has 7 boards in the 1st half.

Yeah Smoove looks good. He needs to hit his FT's though, that is becoming a disturbing trend this preseason.

Also props to Flip Murray for jacking up eight shots in three minutes. Although you gotta give him credit for making four of them

Yeah, Flip is really getting on my nerves with all this shot jacking. I obviously won't bash him if he continues to make them, but, his career says otherwise. I've seen the guy play for years, and he really doesn't know when to stop shooting. He has disrupted numerous team offenses during his career.

Not a justification for dogging per se but Smith goes out, busts his ass on the glass, and sprains his ankle.

Thats why I don't get too upset when guys don't go nuts in the pre. Lebron should be playing, sure, but if he loses 5 games because he strains something in the preseason, thats probably 3 extra Ls on the season.
