Breakdown Of Nets Guardplay

Post#1 » by SeabassP » Fri Oct 24, 2008 4:48 am

This is from the same blog where I took the Yi article. I am starting to enjoy it, needs to be updated a little more...
:spam:

He rated our starters a B+, but our bench a D+. Remember, this is just our guards. I would have given our starters an A, but eh...interesting read. What do you guys think?

I'm sorry, but that was horribly homer with many an error.

LBJ is a SF, not a SG.

CDR a Marion type player!
Since when is he a shotblocker and a beast on the boards?
And since when does Marion have a great ability to create his own shot?

I also find it hard to buy into the literall reason we don't make the playoffs is our bench guards.

I also believe LBJ would like to play with VC, but I don't see Lebron looking at VC being here as a deal breaker, nor do I think VC is "the guy" that Lebron would want to play with the most.

Agree with some of what you said, it is a bit homer, but it's a Nets blog what do you expect? lol. As for the CDR thing, it said "see him being" a Marion type player, of course he isn't going to come in the NBA and start dominating like him, but eventually with his size and speed he could turn into a player like that.

Also bench play is very important so I can buy what he is saying there. Look at the Bobcats worse PPG off the bench, terrible record. Don't really think it would cost us a spot in the playoffs (we got far worse problems) Just wanting to debate, lol that was the point of posting this.

Only reason they call him a Marion type player is because they both have unorthodox shooting forms. That's the only similarity I see. Now if you told me that CDR could become like a Sean Elliot, I would totally agree.

I don't care how much people think Lebron is an SG because he gets the ball at the top of the key so much, he is a damn SF.

I agree that I do believe Lebron wouldn't mind playing with Vince. It gives him another star to play with since he really hasn't had one on his team that's lived up to anything, but there will certainly have to be other factors for him to come here, but Vince is definitely not looked at as a negative in this situation. Unless he has a major drop off in stats within the next two years, I don't think he's a major issue. Would Lebron rather play with an emerging star rather than an aging with with only a few more years left in the tank? Totally, but we have like 10 guys on our roster under 25 years old so we have 10 chances of having a guy like that by 2010. If 2 of them elevate to that status and 2-3 of them show they can be solid consistent contributors off the bench, that would be enticing to any max contract player.

Our bench isn't that horrible. We're just young. He makes it sound like we're the Knicks or something. Any realistic Net fan understands that this is a rebuilding process, but we have a young core that a lot of people think relatively high about. Are we a playoff team? No, but that doesn't mean our bench is a D+. We're a C+ right now because of our experience. And could possibly have one of the deepest benches in basketball in 2-3 years.

Sean Elliot was never really as athletic as CDR though, and I think that is where the comparisons between him and Marion are made. They are both athletic freaks.

I agree with you here, even on NBA.com where they love listing players as Guard/Forward, LeBron is listed a a Forward. I think people think he is a guard because of the lack of guard presence on the team.

I agree with this too. They are going to be a great bench in the future, because they are going to get experience when they are young, and hopefully will be allowed to develop together as a unit. In terms of our guards though however, I agree with the blogger. Experience is the key for guards, and when you don't have that, you don't have much. Hopefully we can watch these guys grow during the season though. Im excited for that.

EEE and Prelude,

why would you think Lebron would want to play with VC? Remember Lebron is Kidd's boy, IMO Kidd used to complain to Lebron about VC. ALL that love between Kidd and Lebron during and after last years Olympic Qualifying Games.

I dont know why you would think that. Yeah he would like another star but you guys see how bad a rap Carter gets thoughout the NBA. I think that some of the Star players agree.

So we cant say Lebron would like to play with VC.
