Gaborik being shopped?

Post#1 » by Nolan » Wed Oct 22, 2008 5:54 pm

Via wiretap

It seems like Minny has no intention of resigning so they want to move him. Who's interested?

He turned down 10 years/$80 million from the Wild. He wants out of there. And on top of that, Minnesota made Mikko Koivu the main guy up there. I believe he is the team Captain.

He will be traded if they have any brains up there.

He is a huge talent who has an injury problem. I would love him on my team, though we dont need him in any way. But pretty much any team should try and buy low

I expect a major blockbuster deal. I heard that Toronto is very much interested but doesn't want to part with their first(s) in this or next year. I have also heard that Pheonix is also a serious darkhorse and could part with some serious talent for him. I.E. Doan and a couple picks

Dallas will be a player i am sure. They have a bad dressing room right now.
Tough thing is though, with that kind of a talent, you never want to trade within your conferance.

Obviously a lot of rumours coming out of Mtl too, but with the talk it sounds like we'd be giving up way too much for him.

Who does Dallas have that Minny would want? They want youth and quality picks/talent for him. I mean they have some good ones but they sold a decent chunk off for Morrison.

I can see Montreal they want to make a statement this year and they do have some great young players to do so with. I could also see Atlanta making a push they need some help as well and Ilya and Gaborik would be amazing on the same line

I just have a lot of trouble with him going to MTL. Too much will have to go the other way, and MTL has done it right so far, I doubt they will change their philosophy in the year of their best chance.

Atl is a good option though. . I hadnt heard that and it makes a lot of sense. That would shoot them up into the contenders in the East for sure

I hope the Pens say no thanks. He just gets too injured for what he wants. Plus, there are some wingers that will be free agents in the offseason that I would hope the Pens go after. Kotalik and if Detroit doesn't sign Zetterberg before 1 July.

I just don't see Atlanta going after him. Minnesota is going to want a lot for him and it would be dumb for Atlanta to give up prospects for him. I'm sure Minnesota would want to start with Little.

I honestly think teams might just wait until the offseason to try and sign him. Unless of course a team would be able to get him under contract once the trade is made.

timd1218, I guess you haven't heard the news for the last 2-3 years. Zetterberg says he wants to retire a wing and will take a paycut to do so. We will have the money to resign him with Lidstrom retires this year.

I wonder who is going to go after Gabs, I see a Eastern team doing so and even Boston is a team that looks like they could be a darkhorse. They have some talent and prospects and need a scorer in the worst way.

I thought Lidstrom had another year on his contract. The only reason I say go after Zetterberg, aside from him being a great player and him and Sid would dominate on a line together, but because I've heard Detroit say they won't pay a player more then what Lidstrom makes. Lidstrom will make $7.49 million next year. Offer Zetterberg $7.75 million a season and see what happens.

It's wishful thinking and I'm sure Detroit will make Zetterberg their number 1 priority once the season is over, but I can dream.

Shocking news, Gaborik went on the IR yesterday. If any teams offers him more then $7 million a season, they are stupid. He is injury prone and he's only had 70 points 1 time in his career. You don't pay $7 million for that.

Some team will pay him for that hell Toronto paied Blake for his 40 goal season in Long Island.

Trust me your not getting Zetterberg! I think Nik would be happy if Zetts became our highest paied player if it ment he would be a Wing for life. Just my 2 cents
