Game Threads! How should we do them?

What do you prefer?

One game thread for the entire season.

Separate game thread for each game like we normally do.

Both. One thread for the entire season and if someone feels like creating a game thread for a certain game they can do so. That way it can just be merged with the season thread at some point after the game.

Game Threads! How should we do them?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Wed Oct 22, 2008 9:39 pm

Curious to know what you guys and girls think or prefer. Should we just have one thread for the entire season or should we continue with a new thread for every game? I'm mentioning this because I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do a thread for every game. Our HOF game thread make gsu might not show his face this year and if he does he may stay retired from making them. Plus it's not like he made them for every game.

With one thread it would be like the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves forum (which are dead except for the handful of us that post there). However, if you want to create a thread for whatever game, you can do so, and it can be merged to the season thread later on.

You decide! Would appreciate if the majority of you would vote.

Thanks

I'm cool with Option (2). I'd worry that a season-long thread would run too long (digging for older comments on Page 137, for example) and would be ignored by "trolls" itching to create their own threads during individual games. Doing simple game threads (sans graphics) will be fine, and on off-days anybody who shows up with a "Where's the Game Thread?" comment will have just created one.

I don't like the elaborate game threads anyway- I just always skip the first page because its annoying waiting for it to load. The gamethread is just a place to discuss the action- having that massive post up front just isn't necessary. I have never understood why people care so much about all the graphics in a game thread. For how much work they take just to ahve it skipped over seemed so ridiculous to me.

Maybe so, KB. But a lot of people really like the game threads. I remember towards the end of last year that we were even getting positive feedback on the threads from other boards.

oh- I never complained about them- if people enjoy doing them and people liked reading them then I always had page 2. It was just a diffferent target demographic. I just don't see why the graphics are necessary. And to me one season long gamethread would be pretty useless.

I agree also I don't like all the extra crap on the first page of a game thread.I never find them funny , and I end up just skipping to page 2.

I like individual gamethreads. This forum isn't the most active, but it's 100x more active than the Braves and Falcons. I agree we can do without all the craziness on the first page.

To truly reach the pinnacle of creativity one will surely pick up detractors along the way
