“Right now I don’t think he’s ready to play at all,” Brown said Saturday. “I think he’s trying, but I don’t think he’s in the kind of shape to be able to compete on this level and do all the things he’s capable of doing.”

“It’s going to be a committee right now,” Brown said when asked who would play power forward. That’s what I’ve been talking to Michael and Rod about.”

“I was hoping we could pressure and we could run,” Brown said. “But with Sean physically like he is and with us not being real deep right now, especially with the big guys, I think we’ve got to play a little bit closer to the vest. That doesn’t mean that’s how we want to play in the future.”

*sigh* It's not a surprise, but honestly this news really pisses me off.

Seriously, how does the front office let this happen, that we have literally 1 PF on the roster who is out of shape and has a bad knee? How do we take Ajinca when we need help RIGHT NOW? Hell, how do we take DJ when there were PFs still around? This franchise has drafted absolutely miserably from the moment of its inception; only Emeka has come close to living up to his draft position. Our attempts to fill major holes on the roster have been generally pitiful, and now we prepare to go into a new season with almost exactly the same roster that had 29 expected wins last season.

I've bitched and moaned about making a trade for a PF. Now it wont happen. PF by committee according to LB, MJ, and Rod. That means Jermareo and Ajinca unless we go out of position with Crash or Dudley. Either way, no trades, no good PF, AND DAMN SURE NO PLAYOFFS. Honestly, I'd be surprised if we match last year's win totals. Because everyone in our Division got at least a little better.

No offense to DJ, whom I love, but right now I feel like smacking LB for talking MJ out of Brook Lopez. At least we could have had Brook at C and let Omeka still toy with the PF position. Better than no PF and watching DJ spend 1/2 the season trying to take the starting PG job from Ray.

i think that right now, playing nazr and okafor together is probably our best move. we all know that ideally we'd like okafor to play center, but we also need to put our best players on the floor together. nazr is our 2nd best big man. maybe by january may gets in shape and we can get him back to playing 30mpg. or maybe lb will get fed up and force mj to make a trade. i really was expecting davidson to show a little more improvement this year. god, lets hope ajinca gets better fast.

Cause by the reports I've read, Lopez is playing great ball right now. I think he's already better than Nazr who is merely a good backup. But Spectre seems to think the whole Lopez/MJ thing was when we thought we might not be able to sign Mek and therefore be forced to trade him and thereby need Lopez to replace Mek. That is an interesting theory and it may be right. But remember how at the Draft all the talking heads on TV said we wanted Lopez for Center so Mek could play his more "natural" PF spot? I dont know which to believe, but I do know we are now screwed this season.

I do have to admit I admire the ability of so many here to always find that silver lining in the dark cloud. Sometimes I do the same, but on this issue, it breaks my heart to say I just dont have much faith in this team or management. They laid all their eggs in the Sean May basket, and that just baffles me to no end.

How many times did I talk about this situation? No one needs to be reminded, and Fats will back me up here, but the facts are the facts:

> I said our biggest glaring hole was (and is) at the 4 spot. I wanted a trade for a starter and nothing got done. That's not surprising as we don't have a lot to deal (even Crash was, and is being, floated out there with no results). Therefore we needed a great draft.

> I wanted a PF or PF/C out of the draft who could compete for the starting spot. We took DJ instead and reached for Frenchie. At the moment of the pick I was torn between Lopez and Bayless. My choice woulod have been Bayless, just because of his STAR potential but would have been glad for Lopez. We took an undersized PG, hoping for a Chris Paul. I suspect we got a nice back-up PG or a very average starter.

> Making the deal to get the 20 pick looked like a great move. We'd get our PF/C at the high pick and our PG or BPA at the 20. After picking DJ (not thrilled with that) our options for a PF got snatched up....all except Arthur. He was sliding due to a "kidney" rumor. I wanted us to take a chance on him as he represented the best option available. We take a project who may be a good player in 3 or 4 years but no time soon.

So here we are. I said I would only get the NBA tocket if the Bobcats got a starting-quality PF. Unless this happens prior to the special deal deadline I will pass. This team looks awful. While Brown will help this team eventually this year, but lacking a significant move, they won't even sniff the playoffs.

Why don't we let Dudley try to play PF some? Even with the defensive problems, I would still play Wallace at PF, if his health wasn't at risk. Seeing as how Dudley and Wallace are about the same size, I'd try Dudley out there. We'll have some problems, but we're probably going to have problems regardless of who we start. I like what Dudley is able to provide, and I think his game fits in with what is missing in the starting lineup. He's not a low post scorer, but he does just about everything else. I would also approve of starting Mohammed and Okafor, just because there might not be any other option. And if we aren't going to even look to let Okafor score, I guess it won't hurt us that much if he picks up fouls guarding PFs on the perimeter.

I think our best bet is to play Nazr with Okafor until May gets in shape/healthy. Anything else leaves us at too much of a disadvantage really. At least we can be better rebounding with Nazr in there.

I hope they're looking hard at some trade options for a PF. We can't hope May gets healthy and Alexis develops. This is why I was so much more pissed when we could've taken one of the more seasoned PF's at #20 instead of Alexis. The guy from Kansas dropped way down and he would've been able to play for a starting job.

Can we pump Alexis up with some roids or something?

I think everyone is right about us starting Okafor and Nazr. But the way LB raved about Ajinca leads me to believe we will see a lot more of him a lot earlier than expected.

What a surprise. Sean May is out of shape. What another surprise that he uses the injury as the reason he's out of shape.

Don't be fooled by May.

May is seen regularly in Uptown Charlotte getting drunk, eating pizza, the guy just doesn't give a damn. There's all this talk about how teenagers shouldn't be allowed in the NBA because they're immature. May spent 3 years in college and 3 years in the NBA and still hasn't matured. He's still the fat slob he was at Carolina. The only guy who got through to him was Roy Williams during his Junior season.

May should be released or traded for a dozen basketballs. He's an embarassment to the organization which is pretty much an embarassment all by itself regardless.

I hope Larry Brown suspends May until he gets to a certain weight. The same way Pat Riley suspended Antoine Walker and James Posey 2 years ago. If you're not at this weight, you don't get to put the uniform on. I think it's the only way to deal with a child like Sean May.

I think Brown going public like he did IS his way of getting back at May for allowing himself to get into this condition. He says it publicly to embarrass May and either May takes it to heart and steps up and starts busting ass to get in shape, or he just lets himselfgo even further and eats himself out of the league. Ithink this was Brown's ultimatum.

So what's wrong with playing Dudley at the 4? I haven't seen many Bobcat games but from what I hear the guy's pretty tuff and we all know he's a good rebounder. He seems alright around the basket and he could also help spread the floor. And didn't he play power forward in college? I mean, while he might not be as athletic, he's not any shorter than Bass, Millsap, Landry, Maxiell, or Craig Smith. Plus it works for our lineup leaving Nazr, Brown, May or whoever coming off the bench while allowing more play time for Morrison at the 3. I don't know, you guys tell me.

It's like wow all of a sudden the season starts and i realize there is a lot of running in this game. I thought for sure if i only ate at Mickey D's three times a day I would be in great shape. Man this game requires a lot more thinking than I thought I thunk.

What do they teach these guys at UNC, how to be bigger morons. I think he went to Oliver Miller's training camp this summer.

Is it wrong that I think there should be a parade (which I honestly might fly down for) when Sean May and the Bobcats finally part ways.

This team has needed frontcourt help since day one (of 2004) and has to have realized that May wasn't the answer by the middle of his 2nd season in the NBA.

I say Nazr and Emeka start...bring Andre Brown and Jared Dudley as the two off the bench. KEEP MAY OUT OF THE ROTATION until he proves he belongs. Cut Ryan Hollins, sorry twiggy, bring in a veteran. Yeah, its bargain bin time...but the thing is, its still an improvement.

Carlos Arroyo, Jose Barea, Earl Boykins, Sam Cassell, Dan Dickau, Keyon Dooling, Chris Duhon, etc...
One of those and Raymond Felton wouldn't have been this teams PG depth chart.

Dooling is exactly the type of pg LB would love, but yea... must stay on topic.

I fall into the "let Dudley start" line of thinking. Sometimes Mohammed starts due to matchups, but Naz ought to get ~25mpg regardless. Have Andre Brown and Dudley play more or less depending on matchups and hope for the best.

Dudley rebounds and has a nice midrange shot with the possibility of developing 3 point range. Nazr should mostly be played when Mek is off of the court, but since he has an okay mid shot, they can play together some as well. I don't know as much about Brown, but he's done well in his short tenure and currently deserves minutes more than May/Davidson/Ajinça.
