?'s about Zaza Pachulia

Post#1 » by 4ho5ive » Mon Oct 27, 2008 8:39 pm

Greetings from the Wolves board, im not trying to troll or flame or cause problems. Just trying to gauge this guys worth. We are trying to see what Centers there are around the league that are available and for what price. I know he is a 4 mil expiring.

What if anything would it take to pry him? Is he available? What are the fans thoughts about him? What are his major strengths/flaws? I think next to a guy like Jefferson he could actually be pretty good playing decent defense and getting trash buckets and the like. Since Horford came around it seems like he has fallen out of favor somewhat.

Thanks for any answers and feedbacks.

Zaza has clearly shown the ability to be a solid backup- he's a decent scorer, rebounds fairly well, and is tough. But he often tries to do too much, and that came to a head last season when he was absolutely TERRIBLE and then had an okay playoff series against Boston.

A lot of it depends on how the season goes. If he's playing well and we're in the playoff race, then we won't be able to afford giving him up considering our lack of depth at center. But if we were struggling, I'd imagine he'd be available, and not for much,

very good player, high energy guy, is very athletic and quick and moves very well for a 7 footer.

his jump shot is below average, not really a threat from the outside, but he will take outside shots. his back to the basket game is very good, he doesn't shoot over people, because he is usually fast enough to get a slight step on his guy.

his defense is good. he is not a shot blocker, but has enough speed and bulk to keep his position.

his rebounding is very good. his defensive rebounding is not superb, but his offensive rebound is excellent because he is a high energy guy.

.... and now for the bad. when you talk to a Hawks fan about Zaza, the first thing that will come to mind is "FLOP". Zaza is a cronic flopper and is absolutly the worst part of his game. when he trys to draw fouls and trys to draw offensive fouls, it will back fire on him and the team every time. when Zaza gets into a position where he is trying to draw fouls on the offensive end, it will go from good to bad very fast and Zaza will start missing easy shots or turning over the ball. when Zaza starts to flop on the defensive end, he becomes the worst player in the NBA and his opponent can have his way with him. in addition, when Zaza gets frustrated, he also starts to commit dumb fouls and take quick bad shots

Zaza is very good, has alot of talent, but his basketball IQ needs work, and he can be immature at times. all of his problems can be fixed. he is a legit NBA starter, but he is nothing special. if he can fix his problems, i think Zaza could be a solid 15/10 guy and contributer to a good team.

the only guy the Hawks would want for Zaza on the Wolves roster would be Brewer or Randy, and i don't think Wolves would agree to such terms.

i don't think Zaza would pair up well with Jefferson because of his poor jump shot. Troy Murphy might make a better teammate for Al.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
