Need Help Finding a Scrub PG
I'm currently in an 18 team league, 10 roster spots, categories: FG%, FTM, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK, TO
My roster has question marks with health (JO, Nene, and Monta). Currently, I'm in need of a Guard, more-so a PG, but anyone productive will do, as I only have 3 healthy guys (Joe Johnson, Rudy Fernandez, and Rose).
I've offered Turiaf for:
1. Ridnour. Well no response after a few days. I want my roster set soon so it can have the proper balance.
2. Antonio Daniels. Likely not to go through. His only PG as Gil is injured.
3. Anthony Carter: Rejected
4. Duhon. Rejected even though he has CP3, KMart, JRich, and JC as his guards with only Noah and Bogut up front.
If I need to go to the waiver wire, how do you think Russel Westbrook will do? Chris Quinn? Flip Murray? Jarrett Jack?
Flip Murary has had a solid preseason but he is always a tease for a week or two. He could fit well playing SG as Bibby and Johnson would control the ball.
Westbrook, I have to think will get heavy minutes. But I'm going to guess I'll get a low FG% and TOs.
Jack could give me 9ppg,5apg, on 42% and if Ford goes down anytime soon, he becomes the starter.

Grab Westbrook asap. Can't believe he's still available in an 18 team league. He's no Chris Paul, but he's the best option out there.

Re: Need Help Finding a Scrub PG
if you were looking for a scrub for the first week at least, i'd look at Mike Taylor from the Clippers.
Put up really good #'s in preseason, and could see some decent time this first week as Baron is likely to miss.
Regardless of needs, no one will trade you Duhon for Turiaf.
Chris Quinn definitely worth a look along with Russell Westbrook. Although i'm no one near as high on him as 3Si.

Re: Need Help Finding a Scrub PG
I'm skeptical of Westcrook, he can't run an offense, may not start over Watson and had something like more turnovers than assists, steals, and blocks combined in preseason despite getting ample minutes.
My advice to you is this, think of every team in the NBA and then think of the backup point guards on each team and check to see if they're available. If you post that list there it'll be easier for posters to tell you what they think of your potential pickups.
Keyon Dooling is probably available in your league but his value is very minimal in fantasy.

I know it's just pre-season, but Westbrook by far has the post potential/value. He might not start over Watson at the begining, but he will still be logging a lot of minutes. They don't like Wilkens/Mason, they want someone young to pair up with Durant. They drafted Westbrook for a reason, and they don't have any plans winning this year.

That's besides the point though Westbrook doesn't look like he's ready to make a sizeable impact on the court and that's why I don't think he's fantasy worthy.
You're right that he's a player to keep an eye on but I'm not high on him his ballhandling abilities (or lack thereof) are going to make him a walking turnover.

Ballhandling isn't a cat. He's been producing in pre-season and they are giving him minutes. That's the bottom line IMO. Turnover is a cat that most good teams punt anyways, so I never care much for it. Around 35+ mins 20+ pts / 5 rbs / 5 assists is nothing to laugh at.

Re: Need Help Finding a Scrub PG
20 points a game? Come on man you're not serious are you? There is absolutely no way Westbrook averages 20 points a game as a ROOKIE. The Thunder will be bad and in need of offense but Westbrook would have to play like D-Wade to average 20 ppg.
Also while preseason stats should be taken with a grain of salt here they are for Westbrook:
25.5 mpg, 37.8% shooting, 27.3% from three-point land, 75.6% from the free throw line, 14.3 ppg, 2.43 apg, 3.86 rpg, 4.29 turnovers per game, .71 spg.
Even if you're tanking turnovers Westbrook doesn't have much value unless he can prove to be a viable option for steals, right now Westbrook will get you some points on inefficient shooting and that's it.
Westbrook isn't the type of player you pick up now and expect great things from, you monitor him see how he adjusts to the NBA game and then pick him up if his impact is beyond 1 category.
On a side note Westbrook couldn't average 5 apg in college, I doubt he comes into the NBA and averages that many (even when you account for the better teammates he's playing with). He's strictly a combo guard right now, he's got a ways to go before he becomes a legitimate NBA point guard.

Do you honestly believe you can pick up anyone remotely close to Wade on the wire in an 18 team league? Get real, it's all relative here. You pick whatever that's available. At this point, these are all flyer picks. Westbrook has the most potential out of all the other options he listed. Unless you think Turiaf is the next Odom... Even if he averages 16/4, that's pretty good considering he's a waiver pick up. He's not going to get 3 steals a game, but close to 1 per is quite possible. Which is a pretty solid stat line for a wire pickup.

I'd much rather have Sebustian Telfail.

Re: Need Help Finding a Scrub PG
Not sure if you'd consider him a scrub but I think Jordan Farmar is going to have a great season. He should get more minutes because he's playing great and learning that he can dribble by his defender and get to the hoop/line. You'll probably have to offer a little more than Turiaf but I think it's worth it if you need a guard and you can afford to give up someone else.

If Demarcus Nelson is on the waiver wire, he might be worth a look.

Re: Need Help Finding a Scrub PG
Wow, my Turiaf for Ridnour deal went through.
My roster now:
Rose
Fernandez
Joe Johnson
Ridnour
Monta (Injured. No Injury Reserve. Sits on Bench)
LBJ
Gasol
Nene
JO
Tyrus
Tyrus plays backup SF when LBJ isn't playing. Ridnour gives me some boost while Monta is out.
Should I deal Nene for Z? Would end health concerns and leave JO as my lone injury prone big man.

This is a bit of a stretch but if Harrington is traded Turiaf's value should increase by how much is anyone'es guess since it's not a lock that Turiaf would start even with Harrington out of the way (I would expect Brandan Wright to start actually)...
Getting Ridnour was a good move though, he's more of a sure thing than Turiaf.
