Did Amare change his name?
I don't know if anyone else noticed this but I'm looking at the current game on the ESPN gamecast and checking the boxscores and instead of Amare or Amare' his name is spelt Amar'e now?

I would imagine it has something to do with his new management team.

Phonetically speaking, it makes the pronunciation of his name easier, for those out there who don't know who he is. It is most likely a marketing move by him. If he can make himself known by one name world wide, like Kobe, it would be huge for him.

Re: Did Amare change his name?
Ialways thought Amaré was from the spanish verb "amar". Which in the future first person it's Amaré...
lways thought it was very poetic to call your son like that...
Guess I was wrong.

So does it sound any different now?
I have always said it like such A-mar-re. But have also heard it said A-mar-ray.
Of course I need to get it right for my job and don't wanna sound like a twat.....

Props to Kerrsed for the sig

Re: Did Amare change his name?
i have no opinion on it, its the dudes name, he can do what he wants with it
maybe he should cut the "stoudemire" part off and become like pele, nene etc

I can't believe I am commenting on this twice....his name was pronounced Ah-mar-ee before the name change; but like you have heard it end with a strong A sound as well. I can only assume that he is trying to clarify its pronunciation.
And other than that, I could not care less. To be completely honest, I feel as if I lost far too many brain cells and IQ points by commenting on this topic, not once, but twice.
