Post#1 » by WD40 » Sun Oct 26, 2008 5:04 am

Who are you willing would you want filling in the back end of your front court? Draft # about 100+
Personally...
Nene
Wilcox
Petro
B. Lopez
J. Boone
Gasol

anybody high on Maxiell? Bargnani? Varejao? Hibbert? Robin Lopez?

Brook Lopez comes to mind, possibly Hibbert if he plays like he did in preseason (something like 9 ppg 5 rpg and 2 bpg averages), Etan Thomas might surprise a few people as well, especially if you're in deeper leagues.

Although I have Blatche and am banking on him eventually becoming the Wizards starting center it's not guaranteed that he will, in his last season of play Thomas averaged an impressive 1.6 bpg in under 20 minutes per game.

I'm only playing Yahoo so C eligibility is a factor in this. I have been targetting Millsap who is C eligible but you might have to reach for him. Nene and Lopez seem like decent targets, buy League pass and stay up on your waiver wire....
I'm so tired of the typical......

Bump the thread? Don't mind if I do....
So I dropped Boone, grabbed Blatche and now I'm here in 14 team H2H,
Pg-Calderon
Sg-Deng
Sf-Turkoglu
Pf- Aldridge
C- Dwight Howard
Utility- Salmons
Bench-Rondo
Bench- Hilario
Bench-Barnes
Bench- Blatche

So should I drop Blatche for Ethan Thomas, Bargnani, Maxiell, Haslem, Foster, Boone again?, R.Lopez, Brandon Bass? BTW I buy on potential and have a huge crush on this team.

Only pick up Robin Lopez if Shaq gets hurt.

With Blatche... I'm in the same boat as you man, I have Blatche but although Etan Thomas is starting I'm pretty convinced that Blatche will still get his minutes and have value.

I'm going to wait for the season to begin see what happens between Blatche and Etan Thomas and the decide which one of those two guys to keep up.

Thomas is a horrible FT shooter though so if you're not tanking FT% keep that in mind.

I'd also remove Boone from your list, at least for now, with his heart problems (well they haven't really figured out what it was that was bothering him) and the solid play of Lopez Boone looks like he may be coming off the bench instead of starting.

And once again Boone's FT% is horrific

edit: Wow I just looked at your roster, you have some solid FT shooters but then Howard basically kills you...

Anyway I could go on and on about the players you listed but here's my advice:

Keep Blatche for now, but watch the battle for playing time between Etan Thomas and him. If Blatche isn't getting minutes drop him for either Maxiell, Thomas (depending on how he's doing), or Haslem (in that order). If those guys are gone consider picking up Bargnani (if he's hitting his three pointers, otherwise he's kind of useless), Boone, or Foster.

haha Netsforce you're a good dude, man, I'm Blazer lurker on these boards so, although we may disagree on the value of Portland's talent, I really appreciate the help. I'm not too worried about ft%, I feel pretty dominant in pts, assists, steals, fg%, and alright in rebs and blocks but I'm usually 4th or 5th my league so idk.... I just traded Caron Butler and Nocioni for Calderon and Deng to solidfy my depth. whaddaya think?

If you are getting Butler, that's a great trade.

Ty Thomas.

Risky at first b/c his FG% will not be that high. It's been about 35% this preseason. Should go up to 40% ish. He should improve as the year goes on. The Bulls appear to make a serious devotion toward developing him this year. Went 90% ish at the FT line this preseason. Been averaging 10 rpg and 2.5 bpg

If his offense comes around (14 ppg at say 45%), he will be an absolute steal.

Uh I'm a big Caron Butler fan man, he fills up every category his biggest drawback though is that he's injury prone and pretty much guaranteed to miss sometime each year.

I think you would have been better off with Butler because between him and Rondo your team would be very good in the steals category on the other hand you added two very efficient scorers to your team so between them and Dwight I think you're a lock to win FG% most weeks.

I don't know how the other teams in your league look but the other advantage to getting Calderon is that your apg category is now looking pretty solid, as long as Turkoglu keeps up his play from last season (Calderon - Rondo - Turkey = Good amount of assists)... Getting Deng and losing Nocioni doesn't really do much, Nocioni tends to impact more categories than Deng because he can hit the 3, but as I mentioned before Deng = very efficient scorer. Hopefully he's rebounded from his injuries from last season and is back to having a noticeable effect in the steals category...
