Interesting Players who were cut thread

Post#1 » by rsavaj » Mon Oct 27, 2008 7:50 pm

Since more and more guys keep getting waived, I thought it would be cool to just have one thread where we could talk about all of them(so I wouldn't mind a merge of all the other ones I've started, sorry).

As of now, here are the guys on my radar(if a miracle happens and Sarver opens up his checkbook)

Salim Stoudamire(G)
DJ Strawberry(G)
Darius Miles(F)
Steve Hill(F/C)
Gerry McNamara(PG)

and as of today, Patrick Ewing Jr.

If you guys have any other players in mind, discuss them here.

I'd like to see darius miles or Patrick Ewing Jr. in a Suns uniform. Unfortunatly thats not gunna happen with sarver at the helm but they would be nice additions to the squad. Im not really that concerned pending any injuries about our line up i think we've added alot of depth. The only spot i think we are still weak in would be the back up PG. With facilitators like Hill and Diaw with the second group though im not too worried about it

At this point I feel like our FO definitely sees our roster as filled out. We have a logjam which makes it almost certain that we can eliminate Salim and DJ, as well as McNamara from your list because of our undersized PG/SG pileup. With Barnes, we have him, Hill and Diaw loading up the SF spot. We could always use another center I guess.

I think we will add someone else before Xmas, but I think it will only come after either an injury or that we realize one of our current roster players aren't cutting it. And it wouldn't surprise me if it was player X on a 10 day, and then player Y on a 10 day, followed by player Z on a 10 day.

If someone becomes available that would actually contribute to the team, I will get back to you. But as of now, I just don't see it.

In the past we have picked up Giri, and TT after being released, both of whom were needed additions to a team; as of today, there aren't any players available that are appealing. Barring injury, I don't think there is any chance a G/SF's going to be brought in. If a big that can contribute better than Lopez becomes available or if Shaq/Diaw/Amare/Lopez go down with an injury they will look to add another big body.

Also I think Denver cut Mike Wilks and Smush Parker, both of which had some solid flashes during the SL.

Yeah, much like last season I doubt we'd go over roster min and if we do it'll be on a 10-day contract.

I'm going to say a guy who never gets the credit he deserves as a PLAYER.

Adrian Griffin.

He's a tough defensive minded pro, cut from the same cloth as Hill and Nash.

I'd like him here ahead of Tucker

i am a really big fan of patrick ewing jr. I can see him being a very good player in the NBA in the next 5 years, hopefully he doesnt fall off the NBA radar.

DJ has the potential he just needs a better offensive game, the NBA is so hooked on offense these days that teams just dont want to keep guys who are only good at defense.

Malik Hairston just got waived. I actually think he's quite good. He was up there in the win shares column in preseason and in college

I can only imagine - "Thanks for the second chance guys, but my biggest thanks goes to paying $500,000 to get rid of me for a guy who was only one pick (?) ahead of me"
