You need ofensive PF!
After watching last cleveland last year in playoff and yesterday in first preaseason game I came to conclusion that without offensive pf cleveland cant win championship?
I like the guard rotation of MO, Gibson and West, but I think West is the most complete player. Defensively the guards are very weak, but great 3 point shooters.
James is top sf, no more word needed.
Center tandem Wallace and Z is ok, aging and declining but ok.
Than there are 3 players:
-Varejao: I like his athleticism and fighting spirit
- Pavlovič: nothing special, but ok for bench sf and sg
- Sczerbiak: Once great shooter, now days I dont know.
pg MO, GIBSON
sg WEST, GIBSON, PAVLOVIČ
sfJAMES, PAVLOVIČ
pf ????,WAREJAO
c Z, WALLACE
That is 8 man rotation, but just imagine if there would be pf that has offensive game and demands at least some double teaming, he could spread the floor and with all great 3 point shooters on guard positions this team could win it all.
So I think that before trade deadline Snow or Sczerbiak must be traded, maybe in a small package for pf...but who???
Basically there are no players available via trade except of three:
- Zach Randolpf
- Al Harrington
- Boris Diaw
Snow for Harrington works, his contract is for 2 years, I would do it. Lets say cleveland include first round pick, but I doubt gsw would be interested.
Other option is Sczerbiak for Randolpf?
Any ideas?

We have our offensive PF, problem is Mike Brown wont give him minutes any time soon. He'd rather have Lorenzen Wright...

Re: You need ofensive PF!
It was just a poorly played game by us, very sloppy with the passing that lead to a lot of turnovers. I give credit to boston because they are good defensively but we made a lot of mistakes last night. Lebron also played poor last night and Mo needs to be a little more aggressive offensively (he only took 10 shots).
Mike Brown left that 2nd unit in too long which was a mistake, the game was basically lost in the 3rd quarter. We dont need to panic after one game though and start talking trades, we have a few new players to build chemistry with and MB needs to get the rotations together. Wally cannot be the first player off the bench either, the guy is horrible defensively and boston knew that. Everyone wally was guarding got the ball and torched him.

Yeah yeah yeah, we need a PF who is an offensive threat. We know we know. But not any of those usual suspects.

Re: You need ofensive PF!
I think most Cavs fans would agree we need a post presence at PF. Hickson could eventually fill that role. I don't think it will be easy to get via trade, even with Wally's expiring because those type of guys are hard to come by.
What's funny is I think that Gooden and Joe Smith would really help this years team. Joe Smith could actually score on the block and shoot from perimeter, and was a great help defender. Gooden was a dumbo on defense but he could score as well.
Even if Ferry can only get a player on that level, I think it would be a huge boost. So I don't think a major move is needed, just something to upgrade the 4 spot and perhaps the SG spot which you will almost certainly see at the deadline.

Re: You need ofensive PF!
When Z is on the floor and playing like last night, we don't need an offensive PF. He would be the 4th option and you don't want a needy offensive player in that role. This team is built around defensive concepts and in that regard our current PFs function quite well. More firepower would be nice but wasted under Coach Brown.
I still firmly believe Mike Brown should play Lebron at the 4 at least some of the time. He's bigger than Big Ben and he has the low-post game. That would put West, Williams, and Boobie in the backcourt and Lebron with Varejao up front as a quick unit, real aggressive on defense and able to stress the other teams' guards.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

West did shut down Ray Allen last night just like he did in the playoffs too.

No no, Allen is having a slump. It is a Cavalier related slump but a slump all the same.

Re: You need ofensive PF!
ITS NOT ABOUT GETTING A PF. THE CAVS HAVE PLAYERS THAT CAN SCORE. MIKE BROWN HAS TO PLAY LEBRON LIKE PHIL JACKSON DID JORDAN WITH THE MINS. LEBRON PLAYS THE FIRST QUARTER THEN SITS UNTIL THE 6 OR 7 MARK OF THE SECOND. LEBRON NEEDS TO PLAY WITH IN THE GAME. IF THE CAVS IS UP AND ITS 3MINS LEFT, TAKE HIM OUT FRESH FOR THE START OF THE SECOND. 2 MORE THINGS I THINK LEBRON NEEDS TO LET SOME OF HIS TEAMMATES NO WHEN THEY TAKE A BAD SHOT. RODMAN WAS NOT TAKING JUMPSHOTS AND DRIVING TO THE HOOP WITH THE BULLS. LAST THING LEBRON NEEDS TO BE THE BIG BROTHER ON THE COURT NOT JUST IN THE LOCKER ROOM CAUSE I SEEN IT IN THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR, PLAYERS LIKE TO PICK ON SHASA AND ANDY. HE NEEDS TO HAVE THEY BACK . RUN UP TO THE PLAYER AND TELL THEM GET OUT MY MAN FACE. LOL

Re: You need ofensive PF!
I'm still not positive about Hickson until I seen him go up strong and dunk on someone. The games that I saw during the preseason he was getting pinned left and right because he was going up soft and/or faking too much. He's supposedly athletic, dunk the friggin ball.
DAPRINCE, lets release the capslock next time.

I agree I'm not sold on Hickson either. He does look timid. He looks like what he is, a rookie . Maybe against a team of a lesser calibre than the celtics will let us know what he can do. That list of forwards all have weaknesses. Although if we can deal snow for one I'm all for it. Give me vince carter we already missed on artest and jermaine o'neal . V.C. and Bron would definatly be a force to be wreckoned with.

Re: You need ofensive PF!
Before I even opened this thread I knew that Zach Randolph's name was going to be in the mix. I was pleasently surprised to see his name didnt come until almost the end of the opening post, however.
Id rather have BenWa than Rainbow Randolph.

Re: You need ofensive PF!
I think Hickson can be a decent 4th big man. He showed some explosion last night that we havent had in a PF previously. Hes definatly not ready to be a central player yet, but I think he will be alright.

Re: You need ofensive PF!
If he can start making that 12-15 ft jump shot and stop gettng stuffed at the rim he'd be ready for prime time. At this point I think he's just a year or so away. He needs to improve his shooting and become more strong around the rim. Right now he's a decent #4 and stellar #5.

Re: You need ofensive PF!
Its not JUST that we need an offensive PF, but more specifically a post up power forward.
No one on our team really has a great post up game, West posts up smaller guards every once n a while, LeBron's post game is still a work in progress ( usually seem him post up and then just bounce back out to the perimeter ) Z used to have a decent Post game .... like 5 years ago... but has any one else noticed how any time he puts the ball on the floor its almost in slow mo...not something you want in a post up man.
The real problem is PF's with post up moves don't grow on trees, if they did danny ferry's bald head would be growing them
