More or less my point was that I take nothing from the fact that he was minus 20 in one game...

bballpacen wrote:What the hell is your deal?? We played well, better than most expected, and were in the game, even with so many TOs and such a large shot attempted disparity... You act as if every player will play the way they did tonight for EVERY game the rest of the season... For sake of argument, is a player not allowed to have a good game?? Or are you also going to rag on Oden for his poor first outing as well?? Man, its the FIRST game of the season...
Where are you getting this from? I said I was pretty happy with everyone other than Jack and Obie. I was pissed off at Obie's decision to play Jack when he got abused all night long. What made me even more mad, is when I said my opinion, Dunthreevy basically tells me I can't have concerns, which is kinda what I'm getting from you as well. So, I can only assume you think Jack had a good game? I said everyone else played well, I was impressed with all of them, but Jack and Obie lost us that game, your right, we were suppose to lose - does that mean we should be happy with a loss of a game we so easily could have won with better coaching?
I have already said it, I don't think it was Jacks fault, I was saying Obie's decision was awful - I called it at half, and he clearly didn't feel the need to make adjustments in the second half. It was the same as last year - I'm not going off one game. I have yet to see Obie make a huge game plan game mid-game. He isn't a coach who adjusts according to what is going on. Remember last year when Kapono made 4 straight 3's, then the next play Obie left him wide open again? Its the same thing - he doesn't make the necessary adjustments to win games.
As I said before - I am frustrated, people overreact when frustrated. Clearly people aren't allowed to be pissed when their team loses a winable game on this board. I can't watch the game without emotion, I can't even imagine how ya'll can. But since its so important to you:
We should be very happy with our loss tonight, I would be ecstatic if we can manage to only lose by a slim margin, in winnable games, to teams we should have gotten crushed by all year long! The fact that Jarrett Jack had one of the worst games I have ever seen should only be looked at as a positive, there is nowhere to go but up!
I said it plenty of times, I was very impressed with everyone on the court other than Jack. Yet, thats not good enough for ya'll - you both make it sound like I hate everyone on the team because I said one player played awful. Frankly, I see no reason to post here anymore if you get looked down upon for showing emotion. Even after I explained myself, I still have 2 people hop on me for saying Jack had a bad game and Obie's decisions were awful. The funny thing is, I didn't even mention the TO's after the game - I realize its something we can work on, I even put most the blame on Obie for Jack having a bad game, but that still wasn't good enough. Put words in my mouth all you want, I never said I thought every player would play like this the rest of the year, nor did I say anyone played bad, other than Jack. Clearly I was wrong, and Jack had a great game.

EDIT: Yes, I realize "As I've said", about 5 times. :-p

I think Jack will be up and down...but that's the nature of a backup, to some degree. I didn't get to see the game, but Scoot makes a point with the -20. +/- is a very iffy stat, but the scale of the -20 is enough to say that it's probably indicative of a substandard performance.
I like Jack, and I think that he'll be a big contributor to the team. However, he, just like pretty much every other player on the team, will be susceptible to nights where it looks like he just kills us.
Still think it's an improvement over Murray/Diener/Owens.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I'm with DGrangeRx33 on this one...Jarrett Jack pisses me off. The two or three preseason games I watched he pissed me off, and last night he pissed me off. I really, really hope Obie's mancrush on him goes away soon, because we arent going to win a whole lot of games with Jack on the floor in crunch time. While he only had one turnover, he was dribbling off his foot and just playing out of control. I realize this is one game, but this is exactly the type of stuff Portland fans were saying about him when the deal went down.

Not sure I think even Diener gave us a -20 game though.
Had we had Dunleavy tonight, he would have been an improvement over Jack in almost aspects..coming from a believer that Dunleavy has no defense.

Rest in Peace, Pacerfan
Will eat crow if Brandon Rush turns out good.

No, feel free to have concerns... But to say that you outright HATE JJ after his first game as a P, is a little over the top, dont you think... He played ok... but I think that everyones poor play made everyone else look bad... I mean even Granger had 4 TOs, more than JJ...DGrangeRx33 wrote:Where are you getting this from? So why the blatant hate of JJ... If you admit that it was not his fault...DGrangeRx33 wrote:I have already said it, I don't think it was Jacks fault, I was saying Obie's decision was awful - I called it at half, and he clearly didn't feel the need to make adjustments in the second half. Man, its cool, but I am just saying that you should not make judgements like you have after ONE game... Sure, say that JJ had a poor game... But Christ... Why the hate...DGrangeRx33 wrote:As I said before - I am frustrated, people overreact when frustrated. Clearly people aren't allowed to be pissed when their team loses a winable game on this board. Really, one of the worst games EVER?? I hope that you are just exaggerating a lotta bit right here... Anthony Johnson ring a bell?? Travis Best ring a bell... And again, for sakes of the argument, lets say he did have the worst game ever... I think it is far fetched to say you hate him for having a poor game... HIS FIRST GAME AS A PACER...DGrangeRx33 wrote:We should be very happy with our loss tonight, I would be ecstatic if we can manage to only lose by a slim margin, in winnable games, to teams we should have gotten crushed by all year long! I am not trying to say that you hate everyone on the team... Rather pointing out that it is too early and premature to make such a harsh judgment off of ONE game... Man, it is cool that you are showing emotion... But if you look at the bolded phrase, you make my point for me... And you are going to HATE JJ for getting smoked in the matchups that he was not going to win... I think that JJ had an ok game... Sure... but you are DEFINITELY able to disagree with that... I just dislike the fact that you HATE JJ after this single outing... Man, If thats how you feel, then feel it... But I hope, and I know that you hope, that you change that opinion...DGrangeRx33 wrote:I said it plenty of times, I was very impressed with everyone on the court other than Jack. I do not see a legitimate reason for Jack to play more than Ford. I think that is poor coaching from Obie. The Jack hate is quite a bit premature though.

Agreed.
