Almond's option not picked up, trade imminent?
http://www.sltrib.com/jazz/ci_10866122
Its too bad, almond seemed to be a player of some potential, unfortunately the jazz have a logjam at sg. Looks like a trade is in the works, the sltrib thinks that SA or Detroit are possibilities. I can't imagine the Jazz or SA want to help each other, so maybe detroit. Who could we get in return?

Now that Almond has publicly come out and the paper has written about the Jazz "giving up on him" and him trying to be traded. Your not going to get more then a 2nd rnd pick or another haffa for humphries type trade. Best case scenario the Jazz can swap Almond for Affalo.

Looks like that whole 07 draft was a bust. We can always remember Almond as the consolation for missing out on Rudy Fernandez.

Look at in on the bright side, he was passed on 23 times before being picked, plus he was playing overseas so I guess teams were concerned about just when he would come, buy out expenses, and if he would be productive in the US. He would have probably been a top 10 pick this year if he was in the draft this year with no foreign obligations, and if he had played college, he would probably be top 5.
Also consider this, while Rudy might be already as good as anyone we have at SF and SG, we already have enough depth as it is at those positions and he would probably get limited minutes because we already have productive players at those positions, but then again he could be like Millsap and get good minutes early on.

Makes me kind of wish that we could have sweetened some offer of Almond and our draft pick in trade with Indiana in the recent draft. I sure would have preferred to see Hibbert on the team than Almond and Koufos. I suppose Indiana felt the same way, obviously..
I don't think that we get anything more than a 2nd rd pick for Almond..

Im not suprised at all. We have plenty of quality 2 guards, that I think are as talented, if not more talented than Almond. I hope we can trade him for someone that will help this team out, but Im guessing that it is failry unlikely. Best of luck to him either way.....

A high second rounder is what I want. Jazz don't need another player, unless Fes is part of the package too.

Nevermind, Rudy went before us, so it's fine. Would of been very nice if he would of slipped one more.

This caught me off guard but isn't surprising the more I think about it. He has not been able to bump out any of the guys in front of him and this offseason we are hitting a salary cap crunch with the starters that need to be resigned. I guess this just makes him the official first salary cap casualty. You can't just pay guys $1mill+ to play for your D-League team these days.

Re: Almond's option not picked up, trade imminent?
It's a shame, but I think good for both sides.
Almond belongs in the NBA, he's isn't much of a defender but I really wouldn't be surprised to see him blossom in a few years and be a solid Matt Barnes type of player who bounces around for a while but makes a name for himself on a young team.
The Jazz just don't have playing time for him and you can see his spirit is breaking and the Jazz don't want to do that. And honestly they could use some cap space albeit only a million and a half dollars, but any little bit helps, also the open roster spot will be nice if they get rid of him this season.

Too bad. Mo has always been a standup, nice guy. The Jazz picked him because they were not sure on their other guys, but then Brewer just exploded and CJ is starting to look like a player and he was left out cold. I still believe him to be a player who can stick in this league.
Maybe Seattle would want him . . . I hear they are looking for a two guard.

Seattle is looking for a team. OKC might need a guard though.......

Why trade a SG for another bench SG? Go for a Sean Williams type player only with a good work ethic.

Or trade him for Bill Russell. Like Bill Russell today. We will be wearing rings in no time.

Maybe Indy would still be willing to trade, I remember hearing that Bird thought pretty highly of Almond.

He really did, but he seems to think as highly, if not more so, of Rush and Hibbert than he did of Almond.
Most I could really see the Pacers offering would be a 2nd rounder and maybe Josh McRoberts or Stephen Graham as a filler. Rush is now the future swingman to play with Granger, the role we would have been looking at Almond as.

Best of luck to him, but I won't miss him much. I figured that this would happen when the Jazz signed that deal with CJ, and things must be looking good to keep Korver around after this season. I think it's a good sign...

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

With Almond's skillset I think the highest thing you could hope for him to become is a Kyle Korver type player... and we already have him.
Trade him, if we get something back great, a pick or a possibile role player would be nice. Otherwise good luck Mo, I hope you succeed in the NBA somewhere.

It makes no sense to swap him for another 2 or 3. I would pull the trigger on either of the deals below:
Almond/Fesenko
For
Sean Williams
Almond/Fesenko/Collins
For
Kwame Brown
