Which undrafted free agent is most likely to stick?

Post#1 » by evildallas » Tue May 1, 2007 7:13 am

We're at that time when each team signs a handful of hopefuls who didn't get drafted. The odds are long on each player but which signings do you think will stick on a roster?

My first thought is Tony Taylor LB Georgia being signed by Atlanta should stick given Atlanta's injuries and depth issues.

I also like David Ball WR New Hampshire signing with Chicago and Travarous Bain CB Hampton signing with Arizona. I think both can stick respectively on the roster.

Clifton Dawson or Jonny Harline on the Colts.

But total NFL, I'd probably say Darius Walker.

Joe Newton the big tightend out of Oregon State is probably in the best situation of any free agent out there after being signed by the Seahawks . I know he's somewhat limited but he's big, tough and will make the tough catch down the middle. If he had gone in round 4 or 5 Seattle fans would have been more than happy with the pick.

I agree with jumanji, I think Newton has got a very good chance to not only stick but see the field as a rookie.

Eric Fowler (WR, Grand Valley St.) has a real shot to make the Steelers. Not great speed but his hands are impeccable and he knows how to get open, could become a decent #4 WR.

Will Gulley (S, Houston) signed with Arizona and from what I have gathered they expect him to make the team as the top backup to Aaron Francisco.

Larry Anam's versatility (he played almost everywhere in the defense backfield for BC) coupled with the Patriots' luck with DBs should mean he'll see some time with the special teams unit until the expected injury parade occurs.

I have never seen or heard of the guy, but if he is a Patriot young DB, expect him to start 4-6 games, and play really well :D
