just curious.. i never really follow the situation, but what did Bird do to "deceive" JO? is it one of those broken promises type of thing?

i might be wrong on this, but i think bird fired isiah thomas, who was close with JO, right after JO signed a long term extension

No, I don't have a vandetta against JO personally, he was great in the community. Besides, JO threw the first stone. I will retort.

My problem comes from the fact he quit on the team that he was paid very well to compete for. Resulting in his trade value plummeting. Although you're right Count55, we received a better than expected return, along with a fresh start.

The guy a couple posts above me basically got it right. Bird came to the front office the same season that JO was an unrestricted free agent, and JO was toying with the idea of signing a max contract with San Antonio. I dont know exactly what happened, but Isiah Thomas was the coach of the team then and JO loved him, and the front office led JO to believe that Isiah would stick around, so JO signed his contract with the Pacers, and a month later Bird fires Isiah. Didnt make JO too happy.

Same ole same old O'Neal tonight vs. Golden State. 2-10 shooting. 5points. And 5 boards. He even got a T.

to be fair, bargs was on fire and he got 3 blocks, and they did win the game, which matters most in the end.

Jermaine's stats were small last night, but he brought the hustle and kept the fans and team energized. The blocks were huge and he still got his even with Bargnani on fire.

In the season opener Bargnani had no points but some boards while JO had around 17 points, 8 boards, 4 dimes and a block. And through it all he helps draw attention away from Bosh who in the first two games is averaging somewhere around 30 and 10. Don't get me wrong JO still looks like it's gonna take more than a few games to get into game shape, and that bothers me, but seeing what that rotation can do, both in the interplay between Bargnani and JO who spent much of summer practicing together and what it means in taking some of the load of our franchise player is HUGE for us Raptor fans.

i don't know what type of numbers JO will put up this year, i'd like them to be better than last season, but toronto finally has a guy with some balls on this team (tj was pretty ballsy, but he was the smallest dude on the team). and bosh looks much more confident, the whole team actually. i think o'neil is rubbing off on them in a good way
