Another thing is the Blazers first five games are....@ the Lakers, Spurs, @ Phoenix, @ Utah, and then at home for the Rockets. We have some high level competition leading into the Jazz game.....the Blazers will be ready, don't look past them or it's gonna hurt. I don't understand why Jazz fans write off the Blazers after Utah lost 3 out of 4 to them last year. We have the same team as we did last year....except that Rudy guy, and Oden are new additions....I don't know someone please explain it to me.

Weren't the Spurs without Manu? And didn't Finley miss a wide open 10 footer FTW?

I don't think it would be an easy win, but we can certainly beat the Blazers w/out Williams.

And if the Jazz have Deron back it should be even more likely.

The Blazers played us four times in a span of about 30-40 days last season, and that was during our WORST stretch. I wouldnt be reading too much into that 3 out of 4 if I was a Blazers fan.

To underestimate is to give a value below the actual value of something. We aren't "underestimating" Blazers. Only a fool would't notice the incredible amount of talent they have been stockpiling.

The fact is Portland looked awfull against Lakers, and they looked just young, unexperienced and not very smart almost losing a game that should have closed by mid 4th, against the worst version of the Spurs seen in recent years.

Oden not playing is a plus for the Blazers right now. He's been looking very mediocre and incredibly slow. If the guy actually plays for a couple months I'm sure he will be fine, but to day he is not.

Now... I'm gonna tell you something.... I seriously envy you for this guy Batum... watch out this young french guy because if his coaches manages him well he will be a huge star for years to come... it seems he's already became a fan favorite in no time... I hope Koufos developes into a good player because if not I'll be mad for a very long time...

Prolly against Portland (he said during the telecast last night that he won't play on Monday).

His ankle though is apparently healed and he's just dealing with blood pushing on his veins which is causing discomfort.

Deron will be basically 100% IMO for the Blazer game.

Blazers look as pathetic as they did last year. They were a 30 win team for most of the season, except for an out-of-the-blue, inexplicable 13-game winning streak that was predicated upon guys like Joel Pryzbilla and James Jones playing above their heads.

Portland has a lot of talent, but they still have to learn how to win in this league, and they don't have **** for experience, leadership, and things of the ilk.

Prepare to be dominated.

Did you get the added disclaimers straight? Apparently not.

Erudite's overarching premise was entirely accurate. Not winning these "easy" games is what prevented the Jazz from finishing at or near the top of the conference last year. They are, in fact, important.

This is not to say that D-Will should come back before he's ready.

Sorry...but I didn't see how your post added much value either. People who post from glass houses...

As the Jazz wrapped up their pregame shootaround Monday, Deron Williams mimicked Ronnie Brewer's post-up skills, joined in a three-point shooting contest and teased Kosta Koufos about being the greatest practice dunker he'd seen.
There was good reason Williams was having so much fun on the court at Loyola Marymount: For the first time since he suffered a sprained left ankle Oct. 18, Williams was feeling like himself again.
"Today is the first day that I've been able to walk on my ankle without it feeling like it's going to fall off," Williams said.
Williams won't play in Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers and was uncertain if he'd return Wednesday against Portland. Williams now has missed the minimum two weeks the Jazz originally said he would be out with the injury.
But Williams sounded as if he had turned a corner. What's been causing him the most problems recently was not the sprained ankle itself but a hematoma - a mass of blood - that had been irritating the nerves in his foot.
The pain was so intense, Williams said even the slightest touch to his foot hurt. He went through shootaround Monday without taping his ankles as a result. Williams also changed anti-inflammatories, which he said has helped.
"It's not really my ankle," Williams said. "I have a little bit of pain in my ankle, but it's more so
down in my foot all the way down in more toes. It's just real sensitive to the touch."
Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said Williams "looks like he's doing better," but Sloan said he was reluctant to take a chance playing Williams until he is fully healthy.

The jazz are playing it smart in keeping him off the court until he's 100%. The season's too long to rush back in early November.

Yeah, we're doing pretty well so far anyway.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Looks like he won't play verses the Blazers. They do not need him. Utah was blessed with an easy schedule, much like the Lakers. They should rest Deron for as long as it takes for him to be 100 percent.

I am hoping for a great game tomorrow, but, the way the Blazers are attempting to compesate for the losses of Martell and Oden, leads me to believe the Blazers will go down in a fiery death due to missed jumpers.

Great to hear Deron is nearly back. He is a great pro.

The game is on tv in my country... It would be sad to to watch Deron... but better that than a worse injury.

I'm happy to hear Deron is doubtful to play Wed night. And am surprised that you would root for the Jazz in stead of your Spanish countrymen.

I told you folks that with BK on the team we could withstand missing 30 games of Deron. So far so good. BK has been better each game. I think he's only a hair worse than Fisher. And I only give Fisher the edge due to one great game vs. GS.

I've wanted him on the team forever. It's just awesome having him here. And for HART. Wow.

Now if we can move Harpring and Collins for Collison I'll be totally happy.

KOC can do it, can't he? He's some kind of evil genius.
