Bears/Lions Postgame
Yay Bears are in 1st place alone. That was an ugly win. Hope Orton is okay.

The Defense played really well after Kyle went down. Let's hope Rex Grossman doesn't hurt us too much.
If he does, though.
CRABTREE! ohhh yeah.

Re: Bears/Lions Postgame
I'm happy about the W, but more concerned if Orton is going to be healthy enough to play next week. We're going to need him for the rest of the season, if we want a chance to see the BEARS in the playoffs. I really hope the Media destroys Lovie with regard to this Defense. This game shouldn't have even gotten to the stages that it did.
BTW, I renounce my Game thread starting for the game vs. the Rams. I obviously didn't bring great luck to todays.

Really happy about the W and Matt Forte. But so many negatives. Orton and Brown, the defense not playing the whole game, etc.

I knew this would be a tight game. Had said Bears win 19-17 in earlier posts. Take away hester's fumble which killed our momentum and this game would have gone much better. The defense played well in the 2nd half (for their game plan, but I HATE the bend but don't break philosophy.)

Why the hell do all of our games come down to the wire.
That's 6 of 8 games. The other 2 were blowout wins for us. But 6...
16 point win
3 point loss
3 point loss
4 point win
27 point win
2 point loss
7 point win
4 point win

Re: Bears/Lions Postgame
Costly win.
The good :
- Matt Forte ran with a purpose and found the holes. The first tackle rarely brought him down and he punished tacklers.
- The o-line. You know....those guys that made the holes for Forte.
- Steltz. Came in with the big interception when the Lions were driving and could have put the game out of reach. Was all over the field filling in for Brown.
- Whoever horse-collared Hester late for the 15yd penalty. Thanks. Couldn't have been any more obvious.
- Corey Graham. His special teams play was great - especially the punt he downed on the one foot line.
The bad :
- Hester. Fumbled a kickoff and stumbled on another. I don't know if it's the special teams not giving him the holes or just Hester himself but the magic isn't happening this year.
- Rex. Outside of two throws it looked like the same Rex to me. Overthrew deep balls, threw short on 3rd down (how I've missed that), threw an ill-advised screen to Olsen, had his ball batted down a few times. If Orton's down, we're in trouble. BIG TROUBLE.
- Pass rush. We're having to blitz a ton because 'Wale and Brown aren't bringing the heat. And Mark Anderson is officially MIA. Again, a top need in the '09 draft.
- Tillman. Was thrown at all day. Yes, the fact we need to blitz so much had him one on one with Calvin Johnson a bunch but, still, it would be nice if he was up to the challenge. His recovery speed is ugly.
I'd also like to point out the Lions sure are big on the histrionics (look it up) and trash talking for a team that's winless on the year. Take your lame secret forearm handshakes and your 0-8 record and GTFO of town. You've been swept, punks. Deal.

Hester might have broken that one for at TD if not for the horsecollar. But yeah, he's not the same.

The 49.9 does include the TD pass. I'm glad we won, but if Orton is out for an extended period of time, we are screwed.

my mistake.
And why is everyone hanging their heads already? I have never seen a more depressed 1st place fanbase ever haha.
But there is still hope for this team because we are in 1st place, am I right?

Next week should be a tough game but the Bears are at home. I would like to see Forte have another great game while the Bears defense shuts down Chris Johnson.

Of course there's hope.
Reports say Brown walked out of the locker room with no brace , cast, or wrapping of any sort to his legs, that's positive for me.
I have faith in Grossman to muddle through a couple games if needed, but unfortunately for Bears fans, two highly meaningful games are coming up against the Titans and the Packers. An unbeaten team, and a rivalry game in a turning point of the season.

What about Lendale White? It's more of a tandem than anything....
I do have to say I can of have Chris Johnson on my fantasy team so...

I just used Chris Johnson as an example since since he and Forte are both rookies.

That is very true. If the BEARS manage to win one of these, I'm cool with it. Though, if they win both, and hello, that'll put the record at 7-3, I'd say pretty much in charge of controlling their NFC North Destiny.
