Ok, Ill be the first to do it: Flip Saunders!!

Post#1 » by 4ho5ive » Mon Nov 3, 2008 7:06 pm

DUN DUN DUN!! Look I know its only been 3 games, and alot of it has to do with the players being on the floor need to play. But I dont think Witt is the guy, and i know people here agree. The idea of bringing back Saunders has been discussed before, but maybe now more than ever is it more than just talk. Witt is killing the young players confidence and his rotations are so afwul. I still dont even know what kind of coach he is.

Flip on the other hand is an offensive guy, we know this much to be true. And without a guy like KG anchoring our D, maybe it wont be as easy as it was when he was here before. He is a guy who has proved he cant make it to the big game, whether with us or Detroit he never got to the Finals. But i think he would be great for the kids and might even turn us into something respectable.

Is he the long term guy? Probably not. I know its always easy to spend the FO money and to act like bridges werent burned. Im not even sure i would want Flip back as I have always been against giving him another shot. But, do we really need to start considering it?

I heart Flip more than most people on this board, but he's not right for this team. Flip is much more of a jumpshooting coach than I'd want around these guys. I bet Flip gets the NJ job when they can Frank midseason.

I like Flip...and considering our team is a bunch of jump shooters and Al Jefferson, i think he'd be a good coach for us..or maybe im just blinded by Wittmans awfulness and want him out of here ASAP

I don't know if he's that much of a jump-shooting coach, when you look at Chauncey, Rip, McDyess, Sheed, Terrell Brandon, KG, Szczerbiak, Cassell, etc, these guys were jump shooters before and after Flip Saunders

One thing that'd be a welcome change is some offensive discipline. Guys can say what they want about lack of freedom, but Cassell, KG, Szczerbiak, Brandon, and lots of role players had their best years under Flip.

And I don't think he's gonna turn Al Jefferson and Craig Smith into jump shooters, he's not that naive. But he might free up some open looks for Miller, Foye, McCants and Gomes and probably get some good stuff going w/ Love too, but it's all a pipe dream.

One thing about Flip: he always got the best out of the PG position. I think Foye and Telfair would blossom with him back but I'm not sure he is the best all-round choice.

How about bringing Flip and Casey back to improve both the offense and the defense.

Oh and fire McHale. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I was in favor of letting Flip go only because the whiny players lost respect for him, and he no longer had control. I think he would work well with this group.
