Iverson traded for Billups

Post#1 » by Bamboozled » Mon Nov 3, 2008 10:08 pm

The upshot to this trade is that the infusion of Iverson into the Pistons’ starting lineup will cost Detroit some wins, and likely the Central Division crown. Denver, on the other hand, is still at best, in the lower half of the Western Conference, likely meaning a first round playoff series on the road, and far less cap relief to rebuild over the offseason.

I see more upside for detroit with this trade in terms of wins than Denver.
While it gives Denver a better PG it'll mean that JR Smith has to start and then their bench essentially becomes non-existant.
Detroit has enough young bigs to make up for the loss of McDyess. Iverson will bring a scoring punch that i think the Pistons have been lacking, while they are a great team they really haven't had an elite scorer they can just give the ball to if they get stuck.
Iverson may be reaching the end of his career but he still brings that to the table.

'Melo will be happy though, he gets nearly double the shots now with Iverson in the Motor City

It is a bold move and I like it for both teams.

Billups is an ideal player for the Nuggets. Give them deadeye shooter and a great point guard. He fits great with Smith on the outside while the Nuggets have Melo and Nene who can operate on the block.

Detroit realizes that they are slipping and trade for financial flexibility while remaining a great team. They are good enough to remain at the top of the east with this trade.

This is a good move for Denver. AI and Melo clearly weren't working well together and their defense was terrible. Billups is the perfect PG for Denver, he plays great defense, he's very effective off the ball and he's a lights out shooter.

Detroit sets themselves up for a quick rebuild if needed and they get one the more prolific scorers in recent history. But its going to be interesting to see if he's going to work in their system.

He doesn't have to start they could start Klezia at SG if they still want to keep Smith as their sixth man. Karl's started him at SG before and I wouldn't be surprised if he does it again.

Oh ok then, i haven't seen alot of Klezia but from what i saw from the Olympics he seemed a bit slow for the SG.
But i'm sure you would know better than me.
Will be interesting how it goes in Denver, i'm still reeling from the Camby trade
