I hope she lives in a nice part of Michigan.
That part of the equation seems to have been lost, doesn't it?
And yes -- she lives in Grosse Point, the nicest part of Michigan (if it's possible to conjure such an image, think the Beverly Hills of the upper Midwest).

crazy fun when it comes to IV halloween's. glad you're enjoying yourself.
Tony & EE,
life's been real busy work and family. i'm just grinding through things and keeping out of trouble. i'll be hanging out here a little more now that the season's on.
so glad the election's almost done because i'm sick of politics.

Re: Community Thread VIII
Pulled a wisdom tooth, last Friday. The dentist couldn't get it out but managed to accidentally crack it in half, after about 45 minutes of yanking on it with a pair of pliers. Also, the damn novocain didn't bite, so I had to keep telling him to shoot me up with more because it hurt like a bee-yotch when he cut me and pulled on the tooth. He pulled so hard with the pliers, and for so long, that he had to take a break to rest his arm. When he had finally broken my tooth in half, he sent me to drive to an oral surgeon down the street instead, with the big nerve inside my half tooth exposed to the air, saliva etc. LA traffic with a tooth like that isn't a good idea. When I got there, it took forever to sign a bunch of papers and then I had to wait for the surgeon for quite some time. Then, another 45 minutes of pulling, sawing, yanking, wiggling, cracking, and the tooth finally came out. The root was bent, and that seemed to be one of the reasons for the complications. To add insult to injury (literally), they had an intern assisting the surgeon. It must have been his first day because, while I was waiting, the regular nurse was telling him in what drawers the different things were, and how he was supposed to do his suction job while I was being treated. So, while I'm lying there with pliers and other metal tools in my mouth and a surgeon going postal on my tooth, the surgeon is telling the numb scull intern over and over again that he needs to go deeper. He even stopped to show him how to do it, several times. I was very close to losing it — tooth ache style. At one point, I was thinking about knocking the idiot on his ass and and going verbally berserk on the surgeon. But at that point, I just wanted it to be over with.
It's amazing how strong our teeth are. It still hurts like hell if I don't take pain killers. I more or less had to get my mouth abused and tortured with power tools in order for the damn thing to come out. When I first pulled two wisdom teeth a long time ago, it wasn't a big deal at all. Guess I must have had it coming.
Then, of course they don't validate the parking, LA style. So, when I finally have so much novocain in my face that it couldn't feel anything at all anymore and I'm walking to my car, there is a parking attendant there asking me if I paid for my parking ticket, back at the office building. Of course, when people have been to the oral torture chamber, why should you let them pay the over priced parking ticket where they exit? Making them walk all the way back to where they just were and get extra annoyed and delayed and pissed at the fact that they're now in rush hour because of frickin' parking structure cretins and interns, makes much more sense.
It's been an injury plagued month for me. First a broken rib and now this damn tooth business. I hope I've had my share for a while.

Re: Community Thread VIII
Substances like local anesthesia don't affect me much. I typically need insane amounts for it to work the way it should. So, I always have to explain that to the doctors up front, and they give me a little more than normal, then they start the abuse and I have to tell them to give me more because I can feel them cutting me. Then I have to tell them one more time or two because I can still feel it. It's always the same story and it usually ends with "You weren't kidding, were you?". No, why the hell would I be joking about having my mouth cut up without local anesthesia? Annoying as hell. Same thing with pain killers and ibuprofen etc, I have to take a whole lot for it to work. But I understand if they can't just shoot people up with extra drugs just because they say they want it.

That sounds like hell. That story is a good reason why I haven't been to the dentist in a few years. I know it's terrible, but I break out in a cold sweat just thinking about it.

Didn't mean to scare anyone. To me, it's very interesting what they do. I like being awake so I can see and feel how much pressure they apply and how they work it. So I guess that makes me the right guy to go through this BS.

Did it a week ago. Can't imagine why anybody would want to stand in longer lines than they have to.

That sucks. I was only in line for about 40 minutes. With Tetris on the cellphone, it flew by.
