Damp+Stack for Marbury
Good:
1) We will have huge salary cap this summer after Marbury and Kidd's contracts expire (if we can re-sign Kidd with small contract, great! If he refuses, let him go and chase young talent)
2) We have kept Dirk Jho Terry, and make the last push in Dirk's era
3) We dumped Damp and Stack, two bad players, 1 stupid contract
Bad:
We will suck so bad this year...
Look at Iverson trade, thats a good example.

NY won't want their contracts any more than we do.

They may do Terry + Stack + George as posted by a NY fan last week. I'd do that. But in order for that to happen, Marbury would have to be still on their roster Dec 15th.
I don't think either team would want Dampier included.

I would go for that trade too. I like JET but this team is on the decline and if we can create cap space and that's what it cost I would do it. But I dont think NY is going to take on anymore salary so I doubt that go for that deal and especially not the Damp & Stack deal.

We should try to get some athleticism in the post. The Nets are trying to get rid of 2 of their forwards. How bout this. We need DEPTH and we may need to try and acquire one more scorer.
Stackhouse
for
Swift
S. Williams

I don't think NJ gives Swift for Stack alone, much less add Williams.

Swift nor Williams plays for them, especially Swift. The guy is useless anyways. I'd rather just hang on to Stack till closer to the trade deadline when someone wants to give up on the season and look to add a player to cut.

Holding at 14
Despite J.J. Barea’s erratic play and a roster spot available, the Mavs are not looking to add depth at point guard, president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said.
The team has not re-contacted Keith McLeod, who missed the entire preseason with a hamstring injury before being cut.
Mavs owner Mark Cuban said he’d be interested in exploring Stephon Marbury if he and the New York Knicks cut ties. Cuban, who said he has a good relationship with Marbury, questioned if Marbury would be interested in joining the Mavs as Jason Kidd’s backup.

This type of traded needed to be discussed before trading for Jason Kidd. We gave up our young point guard to give ourselves a better opportunity to win a championship now and doing a trade like this now would make management look very bad. It would crumble any hopes of the playoffs this year and possibly continue that trend if we failed to sign a prize free agent. I don't like our odds!

I don't see Walsh wanting Jason Terry. I've sat here and tried to put any potential trades together for him to accept Jason's contract and I don't see it happening. There are just to many good free agents to pick from over the next two years and New York will need to land a big name to be the face of the franchise.

Re: Damp+Stack for Marbury
You may be right HMFFL
The way I see it...
Marbury salary - George's salary - Stack's guaranteed salary - Terry's 2008-09 salary
$20,840,625 - $1,600,000 - $9,000,000 - $9,196,000 = $1,044,625 savings before concidering Terry's last 3 years.
Up until that point, it's all roses for NY. They do end up taking the last 2 year's of Terry's contract, but thy get 4 years of Terry for the grand difference of $22.9 mil if Terry only gets the guaranteed portion or $28.5 mil if they play Terry like a starter in 2011. Either way, I think its a respectable offer. Maybe not ideal, but respectable since it would be like siging 3 new players and maing a headache disappear this year.
And, they are not going to "land a big name to be the face of the franchise" before 2011 when they can drop Randolph, Curry, Jeffries, Crawford. Those 4 + Gallinari, Chandler and Collins eat up $51 mil of the cap in 2010 assuming they don't sign anyone else or resign Nate, Duhon (which Terry would replace one or both) and Lee. There just is no FA out there that is willing to sign with NY at about $9 mil without any talent around them. Just not going to happen.

Re: Damp+Stack for Marbury
Moving Stackhouse for Jerome James may acquire us some future draft picks from New York. Jerome most likely accepts his player option (roughly 7 million) for one more season. That rids them of one cancer. Even if we could get some value picks I'm not sure if I trust our management to use them correctly.
