Can I do the impossible? (need advice)

Post#1 » by Tony Massenburg » Thu Nov 6, 2008 8:07 pm

I'm in a 12 team h2h league (we set our line ups weekly) but at the last minute one guy dropped out so the 12th team is just roster of crappy players and who don't even start. Each week the team playing the empty roster teams wins 8-1 (winning in FG%, FT%, Reb, Pts, Ass, Steals, Blocks and 3PM) and losing in turnovers as the team with the empty roster has zero turnovers for the week.

My goal is to win the week 8-0-1. with a tie in turnovers... is this possible or will I screw myself?

Any strategies for how to do this? I was thinking of picking up Bruce Bowen from the waiver wire and only starting him that week as he is super low turnover and a threat to fill every category. The problem if he gets injured, or doesn't register a 3PM, trip to the FT line or fails to get a block or an assist I could be in real trouble. Also any other players you would suggest who could fulfill my goal?

clearly this is not as interesting to you guys as it is to me. I guess I will just Start Bowen and Travis Outlaw and hope for the no turnovers.

i think if you try to win turnovers you might end up screwing yourself in other category's. I've seen situations like this before, and it usually doesn't end well as some scrub on the inactive team will get five steals in a game or something. i would just take the 8-1 win

The team he is playing has no active players so he can't lose any category except TOs.

If you need to play somebody for every game in the week, I doubt you can do it. If you can pick and choose the games, your odds are better but still slim. If your lineup is locked in weekly, I'd just take the 8-1 and move on. Your chances of missing out on a block/steal/3PTM are much higher than not committing a turnover. It's not worth risking multiple points to have a chance at half a category win.

oh gotcha...yea definitely not worth the gamble then, the chances of getting one of every stat without a turnover is minimal
