I did hear Levine say that the padres want Marshall, Pie, Cedeno and Veal. Honestly I would do that in a heart beat. He also said the cubs are talking to the Marlins about Hermida and Olsen.

Hell no to Hermida and Olsen. Both are huge injury risks who are just starting to get expensive. Hermida is a bust still living off his high walk totals in the minors. And I don't want to touch any young pitcher from the Marlins. They wear them out when they cost nothing and let another team pay for the inevitable injury riddled seasons. I don't know what the Marlins would demand, but it would be way too much.

That price for Peavy seems very reasonable.

Imagine a Cubs rotation that featured Jake Peavy, Carlos Zambrano, Ryan Dempster, Ted Lilly and Rich Harden.

Only going to be even more devastating than last year when we get eliminated in the 1st round for the 3rd straight year next October.

Whoever gets Hermida will get a Quentin type steal IMO. Not saying he will unbelievable like Quentin was, but definately way better than what he put up this year. His splits are just too obvious to see that his home park is killing him. He would own in Wrigley.

I don't care for Olsen, but just about everyone assumes he could be swung to SD. Rosenthals latest said if they deal with us it would probably be a 3 team deal.

I would definitely do that trade. It's an even better deal for the Cubs than the proposed Brian Roberts deal last season because the McFAIL wanted much more.

If we do end up landing Peavy just dump Dumpster and take the draft picks.

To be honest with you guys... I'll pretty much give up any combo of five players, except our superstars, of course, other than that, we dont' have a can't miss that we absolutely must hang on to.

Szmardija, Veal, Hart, Pie, Colvin. F it, I don't care anymore.

I would trade:

Pie, Colvin, Veal, Marshall, Cedeno and Ceda throw in a few more too for Peavy. I wouldnt trade shark or vitters. Anyone else is game.

C'mon Sheik, realistically Shark is not going to be a power starter. A power reliever, yes, but not a starter.

Like we all agreed during the season he's nothing but a 3, maybe a 2 starter at best on a mediocre team.

Man... Vitters too, I'll throw in ANY combo of five players.

Ok... now its coming in clearer...

I actually think we were saying Shark was no more than a 3 starter, but whatever, I WANT PEAVY!

If we plan on starting him then I agree we should trade him. I think it would be stupid to start him. He has value as a reliever and last I checked Marmol cant pitch 500 innings.

trade for Peavy. Trade Marquis. Make Marshall 5th starter and let dumpster go for the picks and I would be down for trading anyone, but Vitters.

I'm at a state of delusion, I would trade anyone.

Trade Shark, who cares. With those 5 starters do we really need a 7th inning guy... ok thats a statement.

I don't want to deal Vitters. We need to keep the only impact bat in the system.

Shark will never be a great starter. He'll either be a great bullpen piece or an okay rotation guy. Either way, it's definitely worth it to move him for a guy like Peavy. I'd like to hold on to Marshall too, but that my be unrealistic.
