Well, Porter has a point BUT I like the fact that the NFL is looking at it on a case-by-case basis. For the most part, unlike guys like Thurman, Henry, Adam "You're not Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao" Jones, Matt has been a character guy throughout. He is beloved in Arkansas, and pretty much everyone in that state was in shock when he was arrested.
As a Jaguar fan who wanted Matt Jones out of the team before the start of the season, it's clear that the arrest woke him up. He started focusing on football and doing what he can to be a better NFL player. Sometimes, these players get caught up in the money, fame, etc. and they fall into these traps without realizing them, and sometimes, things like this are enough to wake them up and realize that's not who they want to be.
Then, you have guys like Odell, Henry, Jones, etc.. who does the same things over and over and over again and never learns their lesson.
For people like Matt, perhaps suspending him, and taking away what seems to be his main focus in life could backfire and cause him to further go into the deep end. He's in the league substance abuse watch now. He's tested randomly by the NFL. If he keeps himself, clean, then good for him.
I am surprised that there's been no suspension handed down on John Henderson yet though.
