TI: Barbosa and Diaw for Michael Redd?

Post#1 » by power4wardjinx » Sat Nov 8, 2008 11:13 am

This may have come up before in discussion, but because the Suns are playing the Bucks tonight, I'm interested in what Suns fans would think of this trade.

The money works:

Redd $15.78 mill
Diaw $9 mill
Barbosa $6.1 mill

Suns get a good-shooting prolific scorer who would thrive playing with Nash and would be a great complement on a contending team.

Bucks get two bench players who would do well playing Scott Skiles ball movement offense. In any case, Diaw's minutes are down under Porter.

Would you do this deal?
Also: How tough is Diaw in the 4 spot?

no way we would do this trade. i realy like micheal redd, but diaw just found his right nut and seems to find his left one in a couple of weeks. and barbosa - mh, he had a tough offseason and didn´t semm to be at 100% - we just have to wait some more days/ weeks---

imo definitly no...

what about bogut, damon jones & charlie v. for barbs and diaw??

Props to the great one

At first glance it would be great, but on the other hand I don't think I would like to send Bell's D to the bench. Sure Redd is a superior player, but we have plenty of scorers on our team and Bell plays one of the most important roles.

Somehow throw in Charlie V for my personal preference and you have yourself a deal.

As for Diaw and tough, the words don't usually appear in the same sentence unless you were to say "Diaw isn't very tough" Having said that, this year he seems to have grown a pair at this stage.

I'd be inclined to do it...I think we can mix lineups and alternate

Shaq
Amare
Redd
Bell
Nash

Shaq
Amare
Barnes
Redd
Nash

Amare
Barnes
Redd
Bell
Nash

I've really soured on Barbs...He's clearly distracted, but we don't want his value to go down so much that no team wants him...SA need some guard help haha

I think GS is the best fit, or NY...possibly even CHA for Crash - that'd be SWEEEEEET...so highly unlikely

CHA for Crash...................can anyone say heartbeat? But you're right, so highly unlikely.

SA have nothing we want anyways, not that comes in a price range of Barbs. Pitty we didn't get to NY earlier and try and steal Chandler.

Oh yeah and there is no way a line-up of Redd at SF works, he would get abused more than he already does.

Without Bogut, Stern wouldn't even let the Bucks play in the East!
We'd have to move to the Euroleague.

Charlie and Jones for Diaw? That might be interesting.

This would be great for the Suns.
Redd's game is superior and he is hungry for a title.
He can really help, but without Diaw the front court seems too thin. I don't think Lopez can be a solid defender yet.
But I will still do thsi trade.

if we trade diaw we should get someone back who can also play sf/pf.
here where charlie v. comes in the progress. i would love to have him on the team. don´t know why but i like his game. or we have to sign juwan howard or antonio mc dyess to tighten up the frontcourt. i realy like both of my ideas :D

and yeah, sorry ´bout that bogut trade idea - didn´t know that you´re so close to the euroleague

-- isn't the knock on CV that he's inconsistent and doesn't always bring it? Let's send barbs to the Warriors for Marcus Wiliams - I know that overloads us at PG but I think he's a player, and Dragic has yet to wow me.
I keep seeing Rudy F in a Suns uni and have to go lie down and cry for a while.
Speaking of which, Rodriguez has made noises about wanting to be traded as he's getting no minutes ...

I'd do it if we got CV too, b/c we're pretty shallow so the 2 for 1 stuff isn't realistic.

I'd take a future 1st rounder to sweeten the Bucks pot. I'd do it.

Tucker's somebody who'd do well playing for Skiles as he came through Bo Ryan's grind at Wisconsin.

Milwaukee does it to get younger, more versatile and more athletic. We need players who can play to Coach Skiles' pace, which revolves around quick ball movement. We have big men, point guards and small forwards, but need some help at the 4 and some depth. Better shooting, too.

If we give up Redd, Bucks have to get a three-point shooter back, and Barbosa's career 3-percentage is 7th among active players. (I realize part of that is due to playing with Nash, one of the reasons why Redd would be a good fit for the Suns.) Diaw's versatility helps at the 4 and with the depth. Tucker helps too - he's a rugged player and a solid defender.

Bucks also do it to let Steve Kerr deal with Charlie V's contract - he'll be an RFA this summer.

Done deal!!! :D

Redd could bring firepower off the bench. In fact, that's probably what Skiles should do with him in Milwaukee.

Yeah but wouldn't he be a little disgruntled with that role? Isn't he your highest paid player?

So we'd swap Diaw's $9m off the bench for Redd's $16-$17m off the bench?

Have to think if the deal did happen, he'd start at the 3 with Bell at the 2/guarding 3s

Whether he's starting or coming off the bench, Redd probably won't be happy unless he gets all-star minutes. But who knows, maybe at this point in his career, he'd be happier with 30 minutes and a lot of wins in Phoenix than with 37 minutes and more losing. The Bucks probably could not bring him off the bench without causing some problems.

He's got $51 million coming over the last three years of his contract. I'm sure Porter would give him his minutes.
