Re: Community Thread VIII
Whoa... no posts... post-Election? I thought the concession speech was one of the finest ever, especially since we didn't have to hear Palin. Really I think McCain has a good sense of humor and that was a good speech. Barack's speech was convincing... inspiring even.
Seriously sorry about he tooth EE, today I broke a molar crown in half and was bitching all day... my bad. Thanks for the reality check.

Man, where to begin? Yeah, a great presidential acceptance speech, as expected. He's such a great speaker. I can't believe the illiterate troll is actually on his way out. Skål! This is good for this country. But let's put his task ahead in the right proportions — he's a speck of hope versus a giant sh¡t-storm of an economical crisis. Just like the 1980 hockey team, he can do it. It's the american way. I'm too worked up to comment more, right now.

Hey EE, I know you're into politics, so could you do me a favor and give me some links to his good/great speeches?
I haven't followed him at all, so hopefully you can help out.

Well, I'm not into politics or politicians that much. I'm more about fundamental rights and wrongs. I'm too weathered to blindly believe and worship a political leader. Again, they're all full of ****. But I believe that this is as good as they come today. I might be jaded but my heart isn't dead. There might be a chance that he is the real deal. And that would be incredible.
If you feel you've been missing out on his speeches, why don't you start with the speech he gave when he endorsed senator Kerry at the last election's democratic convention? That's the speech that started making him a household name. After he was done giving that speech, I (and millions of others) predicted that Obama would be our next democratic president. It's good to be right sometimes.
Then, I'd suggest you watch the acceptance speech from yesterday. Hell, just do a youtube search and you'll get linked to more inspiring speeches than you have time to watch.

Thanks for the link.
I'll take a look at it when I have time.
I'm going to have to talk to my ISP sometime soon about a few things if any more problems get in my way.

Maybe, if I get a good deal.
But I wasn't complaining about speed... but I can handle it.

Re: Community Thread VIII
well after 5 months of working at this convenience store i finally have a good story
several Mexicans live a few blocks from the store, and frequently come and buy beer, some of them come several times, and they always walk since they live so close and probably don't have cars i don't know
i'll let an eyewitness take it from here (keep in mind the road is 3 lanes wide, center turning lane)
now in the store we didn't know what had happened out on the road, the 2 Mexicans came in like they had the other 3 times that night and bought beer, then they left and things got crazy
the cops proceeded to perform a field sobriety test on the driver and he was eventually cuffed and taken off to the station, his buddy was told to walk home, apparently the driver didn't have a license
a tow truck was called and someone else over heard the cop talking to the tow truck guy and the car turned out to be stolen, which made sense, they had no driver's license, the plates were from Minnesota and they lived 3 blocks away
i just found it hilarious that after 3 times of walking to the store they would finally drive the last time, after a considerable amount of drinking, in a stolen car no less, but it was cold, windy and it had started snowing, but not 10 minutes later a different couple of Mexicans came walking in to buy beer
lesson learned
overall a funny way to end a boring shift

there was a pickup driving down the road and moved into the center lane and a car kept moving over toward the truck until it was completely on the wrong side of the road, so it was 3-wide going down the road toward the store, everyone pulled in, and the two Mexicans got out in went in the store, I found out that the guys in the pickup were actually off-duty cops who were headed off to a casino

the Mexicans had gotten back in their car and i guess they didn't see the pickup behind them and they were starting to back out, one of the off-duty cops was in between the 2 cars so I was yelling to the driver to stop, and thats when the police pulled into the lot

I'm glad you don't have anything crazier than that. Our Circle K is full of stories of Uzies, theft, and car accidents.

Re: Community Thread VIII
Strange things happen at gas stations.
On my way back from Chicago I had to stop at a gas station in East St. Louis to fill gas and get some drink. Some dude was so high that he passed out in one of the restrooms and another guy was trying to sell a stolen laptop to the clerk on duty. I went upto the counter to check out my stuff and said "Must be a crazy day." to the clerk and he says "You have no idea what else I see here.." and that was reason enough for me to drive away from there as soon as I could.
Must be one of the most dangerous work places in the US.
