ReakGM, what makes a better real GM.

What is more impressive a feat for a GM to accomplish IYHOs.

1. Draft a super star in the top 3.
2. Draft a starter in the first round
3. Draft a contributor in the 2nd round
4. Pull off a trade for a superstar that improves your team significantly giving up only prospects and picks.
5. Trade a super star from a stagnant team and get a prospect that becomes a all star and a contributor or 2 as well.
6. Trade a crummy player for a player that contributes much more and saves the team money and cap space.

1, 2, 3 have as much to do with the scouting as GM.

4 and 5 is a matter of who the players are, and being the "right fit at the right time" for the other team to trade to you.

6 is probably the most skillful. As a whole though, I think the GM's worth is not about individual moves, it's about the whole... the team you put together, all the moves leading to a benefactory conclusion.

#6 was my ulterior motive here.
