Tech will be there if undefeated, but i doubt that will happen.

They beat Texas at home after Texas had gone through a monstrous schedule and won on a last second touchdown. I think people are giving Tech too much credit, if the game was on a neutral field, the Longhorns win that game.

Gotto love Penn state losing. The Football Gods have saved us from another embarrassing Big Ten whooping.

It is looking more and more like SEC champ vs Big 12 champ. I love it, that is what it should be every year with the exception of an USC showing every now and then.

Big 12 winner, USC, and SEC winner are the best teams year in and year out, the Big Ten should be banned from national championship games.

By the way, Penn will go to the Rose Bowl to play USC and will see again another Rose bowl murder olf the Big Ten.

This weeks rankings will go like this
Alabama
Texas tech
Texas
Florida
Oklahoma
USC

I will pick the final (endof season) rankings as folllows:

Texas
Florida
Oklahoma
USC
Alabama
Texaas Tech
Penn State

Florida beats Texas on a good game
SC destroys Penn

You're making a very bad assumption there. If Oregon State beats Cal (at home), Arizona (away) and Oregon (home)...all of which are possible...then Oregon State will be going to the Rose Bowl over USC.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

i guess they should ve banned big 10 team in 02 championship game against a so called "team of the century" to avoid embarrassment. oh what could have been!

srysly, people need to think twice before posting mindless rhetoric.

The fact is that in the past few years, the big ten has been embarrassed in the national championship and rose bowl. In the past 3 years, Ohio State has lost to the only elite teams it has faced. 3 by a large margin and one at home. I'm sorry, but this isn't 2002. The Big 10 is not what it used to be

King, I don't think Oregon State will win out. I hope they do, it would make for a more interesting rose bowl...One no one would have predicted.

Big ten is historically known for being one of the top conferences and has won many national championships. The voters respect that and the winner of the big ten, especially undefeated, will get the benefit of the doubt.

Not saying the Big Ten can't go back to it's glory days, but recently, they don't deserve the respect they are given.

Ohio State:
Destroyed by FL
Destroyed by LSU
Destroyed by USC
Beat at home by Penn State

Isn't Ohio State something like 0-8 vs SEC teams?

USC has also put a beat down on Michigan and Illinois who were the second best teams of the Big 10 last 2 years in the Rose Bowl.

Evidence is there, you can argue all you want, but the fact is They have been outmatched in the big games and those games have not even been close.

Had Penn gone undefeated, I would have put them on the national championship game since they were undefeated, but doesn't mean I thought they were better than the 1 loss teams.

Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, USC would all have been better than a Penn State team, but the Big Ten has become a weak conference and the best team in it will have the chance to run the table every year or lose 1 game only. While for Big 12 and SEC teams, it much more difficult to lose 1 game only or win out.

I'm not saying it's going to be a cake walk, but all of the games left on OSU's schedule are winnable. Their defense has been a lot better this year than most expected and their offense is clicking (even with a switch in QB). As long as they continue to play their game and limit dumb mistakes, they have the firepower win out.

Also, the Bowl system is there for profit. Teams like Michigan and Notredame(who is independent) will always have a good shot at Bowls since they have great draw due to their history. Penn State is one of them. Fl State and Miami are also in it.

wrong. ohio state has beaten texas in austin when they were ranked #2 in the nation 2 seasons ago. not to mention #2 michigan which may be Big10 game but it was a game that had more pressure than a national championship game.

conference power cycle changes every few years if not every year. there was a time ACC was the best conference in the nation now they are fighting big east to not become the worst, pac10 was among the best last year now they are worse than MWC, SEC was the best last year now Big 12 took over etc etc etc

point is, if we went with your asinine logic we should ve banned SEC teams from playing for the NC game when SEC failed to win a national championship in 5 year period during late 90s/early 00s. i am sure everybody is that glad we let LSU play for NC on 03 season despite SEC s shortcomings.

I was bein sarcastic with the banning thing. Right now, the Big Ten is not what it used to be and its best team is not as good as the other elite teams.

The same thing is happenning to the SEC who had a significant drop off in talent this year. It is a cycle, I agree, but right now, you can't make a case for a big ten team deserving to be respected with the elites. They haven''t earned it. It will happen again though, I expect Ohio State to go back to glory, but not now.

that s true and i am not arguing whether there should be a big 10 ten team in NC game. just saying i wouldnt be so quick to disregard a conference that has two big traditional powers with high recruitment power just because they are on a downturn.
