Found this link on the GB. It a pretty good read considering we are all really high on out bench.

Hopefully Lakers can get that #1 spot.

Re: Western Conference Bench Play
• Kobe Bryant exited a recent game against the Clippers and punched the bench as soon as he sat down, causing the whole row of chairs to rock backwards. What was eating Kobe? He thought his team was giving up too many points to their hometown rivals.
"I was just pissed," Bryant said. "Offense is not going to piss me off, it's defense that is going to piss me off."
The Lakers are currently first in points allowed per game (84.4) and second in opponent's field goal percentage allowed (.390). I'd hate to see what he'd do if L.A. falls to second and third in those categories.
Keep him away from the Bobby Knight footage.
hope he used his left hand not his right

Re: Western Conference Bench Play
Straight bogus, they based that strictly on averages.......which can be jaded to say the least.Just because a team is averaging more point or rebounds doesn't mean they're better then another teams bench. Four of the 10 they listed are losing teams and if their benches were so good wouldn't they be at least .500 teams ?

Re: Western Conference Bench Play
Utah's bench is better than ours... BUT our 2nd unit is better than Utah's... Why? Because either Bynum or Gasol is usually in at center with the 2nd unit... So even though their bench has more talent on it, we'll still get more production out of ours..

To me atleast this is one of those recognition things, just like the MVP. In the end, the bigger picture is the grand prize chip.

I rather be second than first because at first they expect more of you and other teams will be trying to tighten up their D more on you. Where as at two.. you're just trying to do your job and it get done. Other teams aren't trying to dethrown the top bench to boost their ego...

Re: Western Conference Bench Play
utah's bench is more likely to change in and out and play with the first team than with each other
our bench is a cohesive 2nd unit that has its own identity and plays its own brand of basketball
